Hi All!
I'm a crazy father of 2 ex-premed who just recently turned down Northwestern to go into a RN program.
I already have an Associate in Science, but I'll be getting another ADN and then go to a 4 yr school.
When I went to an info session about the RN program ill be trying to get into, out of like 70 ppl only 5 were guys.
So I want to know are there any men out there?
Hello, another newbie to the board and to the exciting field of nursing... 33 year old single parent of two children, and student of nursing (one of four males out of thirty-six students) in southeast Texas- going LVN this year and ADN next year... with a long road ahead of me- G-d willing!

Welcome ... single parent here too of 3 kids. I went the ADN route when my kids were younger and thrilled that I did. They are all young teenagers now and being an RN has given me a lot of choices in order to raise them and be available to them. Good luck!
Hi all,
Another guy here. Just graduated Medical Assisting (nursing student soon) and was 1 of 4 men and many women. The women were great to me. The only problem was it was female (medically and example wise) orientated, lot's of female stuff. I learned a lot though and very happy I did the career change. Luck to all of you.
I totally agree! I cannot work with an ALL female (or all male) group. Where I work (a busy ED) there are about 60%female, 40%male...an let me tell you, no pale, scrawny surgeon is ever gonna mess with these manly male nurses(yes, yes, I'm generalizing, dont get mad!)! You guys are very welcome in this historically female field. Plus, a lot of female patients tell me how cute and sexy their nurse was. There was even a feature on it in Cosmo, but I forget which month. Good luck! We chiquitas support you!
I hope I get into a class with women with your attitude. It will make nusing school a lot more interesting.
University of Phoenix Online. It is a really great program, very germaine to the market today. It will give you the credentials you need to teach, but also allow you to then go and get a certificate of advance studies as a NP or CNS.
The best part of UOP is each class is 6 weeks long. You can get your coursework done in 2 years taking a class every 7 weeks. There is sufficient time to get your coursework done, and still be able to work!
Best of luck with your future endeavors!
Dave
DaveWhich program are you attending for your MSN, and congratulations on getting your MSN. I hope someday to get my MSN to teach at the collegiate level.
[color=#ff0080]hey im a girl (sorry),
[color=#ff0080]just thought i might mix a drop of estrogen amongst all the testosterone, and by the way you guys are not as alone as you may think you are, in my class it was almost 50/50 ratio of males to females and by the way u should let some females join your little secret society who knows what you'll end up with!!!
[color=#ff0080]stop pouting your not alone i promise!! :blushkiss
