Horrid clinical uniforms

I have to take first place for the LAMEST clinical uniforms ever!

White pants, polo shirt and shoes (not bad). The worst part of the uniform is the vest! Its a long blue vest with many pockets. The horrid part of the vest is that it tapers at the waist and then flares out again. It looks like a combination of a dress and a bib. It makes me look pregnant.

I call it "birth control blue". Well...at least I don't have to wear a matching fanny pack.

So what does your clinical uniform look like?

I start my program pretty soon at the University of Arizona. I love our uniform. Here is a picture of our scrubs:

When not in scrubs, we wear either a white or navy blue polo shirt, whith matching slacks, white shoes and socks.

Those are awesome. Ours is the same style, except a deep dark blood-colored red; however, we have no insignia representing our school on ours.

I know exactly what color you are talking about. The Med students wear the same red, which is our other school color. I think they are really sharp. :)

That sucks, we were allowed to wear the same color scrubs at the hospital staff. The school owned the hospital so we blened in perfectly (dark blue scrubs). :)

here in ohio the guys at my cc wear a tunic zip up top with 2 pockets in front, the thing that bothers me most is the white strap on the back of the shirt connected with 2 button, when i unbuttoned it i felt like i was a male maternity model, the shirt is a freaking balloon and i dont have breasts to fill all the extra space. A hospital provided us with free uniforms for clinical. I'm gonna ask the faculty can the guys wear scrub tops, the uniform doesn't really seem to bother the other guys, but i got chest hair and i'm gonna show it off.lol.

Specializes in ER/Trauma.

When I was a student:

White vest, white scrub pants, white scrub tops, white socks, and white shoes.

With dark blue university logo on an arm patch.

cheers,

That's terrible, I'm sorry ... :scrying:

I'm lucky. We wear white chef pants and an oxford (hooray for button down collars) white shirt made out of comfort preventing poly cotton. The two patches are sewn (or glued if you're good) onto the sleeve. Since we're a new program no one ever thought to specify upon which sleeve to place the patches. Also, no requirement exists for a belt, so the first two semesters I wore a black web belt with painted black buckle. (I follow the principle of "if you're going to be wrong, be completely wrong"). In that I'm built like a pair of mating traffic cones, I am seriously considering the use of white suspenders.

I'm wearing any athletic shoe that is all white, regardless of pattern, and we've been told that the sole can be gray if its not visible. We WERE also specifically told not to wear printed underwear, especially rubber duckie prints.

I'm an EMS type as well, and I like the cargo pockets that come with the EMT pants. There are scrubs that have pockets galore, including the ankle pocket (Aviator is one brand) and that's the direction I'm going when I get out of school.

all the best

At Curry College, ours are navy scrubs like the U of A ones with the Curry logo on the left side. I am very grateful for this.

What is going on out there? my school still wears all white, I feel we men look like dentists, the blue stuff sounds like hell, im sure i would switch schools? so of the scholls sound like the are pritty profesional, I wish my school wouls accept white scrubs, anyhow my last semester and we wear smart casual clothes with lab coat, as we are in psyc. good luck to all men out there, remember we men will graduate as Registerd Nurses, and we should be called nurses, not male nurses! my hang-up, women are not called female nurses are they, lets move with the times and get of the gender train

Specializes in Cardiac Care.

We're fairly lucky. We wear royal blue scrubs with the CC logo embroidered over the breast pocket. White t-shirt beneath, white athletic shoes.

Could be worse. That vest thing... !

Specializes in Med-Surg.

We are fortunate, we wear all black.

OH Boy.. There is no way they could get me into one of those white uniforms. Im a man, and the male white "jump suit" makes you looks like an orderly in a psych ward thats coming after the crazy person with a straight-jacket and a muzzle. NO WAY! :nono:

I guess I got off easy. White pants (I found some good Dockers) and white dress shirt. I look more like a Navy Officer than anything else.
