What is the process for getting into your school's LVN program?

The school I applied to for Fall 2013 has us first going to an information session then, taking pre-reqs- Nutrition and A&P, and getting a C (75) or better in the classes, then taking the TEAS test and needing a 64 for reading and 60 for math.

After that we turn in an application with our scores and grades.

We wait to receive an acceptance letter in the mail, that tells us what we need to next.

I just received the letter and it said that I need to write a 2-3 page narrative based on an interview with a practicing LVN, 3 letters of reference (that's going to be hard for me since it's summer, but hopefully I'll figure something out), and a handwritten paper telling my special interests or hobbies.

I will have an interview on July 10th, which is when all that paper work is due. (Only 2 and half weeks away! :eek:)

Then hopefully I'll go on to the next part, which is survival camp in August before school starts, I'm not quite sure what happens there, but I'm sure it's like an orientation telling us what we need and stuff like that.

We also need shots, a CPR card, physical exam, and a background check, but I don't think that's due until school starts.

Hi... the process for getting into our school's LPN program:

1) Complete an application and provide high school and college transcripts, as well as four references.

2) Complete an online Medical Terminology class with a grade of "A" or "B."

3) Take a TABE Test.

4) Take an "Engage" college readiness test.

5) If a finalist, complete a lengthy panel interview and a series of essay questions concerning nursing as a career and personal motivations to enter nursing, on-site. (The essay answers are scored on content, grammar, handwriting... everything.)

6) If accepted, complete vaccinations and CPR training prior to program.

My school was pretty easy.

1. Pay $50 to take the entrance exam and obtain a 60% or better in each three subjects.

2. If Passed personal interview with nursing program director.

3. If Accepted (found out the day of my interview) obtain shot records, physical exam, FBI background check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, drug screen, and dental exam.

4. Pay $200 deposit

5. Go to orientation and take a cpr class.

My class starts on July 15th and they only accepted 32 of the applicants.

The school that I will be going to this fall 2013 was really easy

Meet with admissions represensitive talk about the program and pick a schedule that meets with your needs

Take a 50 question entrance exam u have to get only 20 questions right and its multiple questions and they advise you to skip long questions they only look at the correct answers

Meet with financial aid and do your fafsa and find out how much pell grants you can get and government student loans and if you have to pay anything out pocket then they set up payment plans for you

Fill out registeration paperwork with admissions and place order for scrubs and pay 150 for registration

Get all your physical paperwork done such as immunizations and tb test...background check.....turn in proof of ged or high school diploma

Have a directors meeting where they explain the process in the program

And then just wait for a call for the orientation

My program wasn't too hard.

1) fill out application, get your high school and any college transcripts and have to have a 2.0 or higher

2) pay 40$ to take the HESI test and score a 75% on the math, reading, composition, and launguage. And write a 250 word essay as to why you want to be an LPN.

3) pass a background and finger print check.

I think that's it. They only take 30 people and its based on points. You get so many points per thing you have.

After class started I needed shots and a CPR card as well.

My school is easy but there is a waiting list.

1. Take the Hesi score above a 70% for RN 75%.

2. Have a criminal background check & drug test.

3. Get on the waiting list.

4. Pass the five pre-req's

5. Get your immunizations and CPR card.

6. Pass your nursing classes with a 80% or better.

I think that's pretty easy.

Apply and pay the application fee, submitting your high school marks and immunizations

If you're in the top 30 you get to write the CTBS test and go for the interview. CTBS was tough 2 hours long for me and I write exams quickly.

The top 14 based on high school marks and CTBS test marks got a place.

Then we had to have CPR before school started.

Apply and pay $40 for the TABE test (About 1,500 applied)

If you pass the TABE test with 12+ you're invited to the prelvn course (About 100 people passed)

Pay for prelvn course $25, take a written interview, anatomy/physiology test, and a handbook test. (About 35 people were selected)

Do fundamentals for 6 weeks. (Top 25 people get into the program)

(1) apply to the school and this 20 question quiz to see where I was at

(2) take the TEAS 5 exam and at that time only had math (needed a 33%) and reading (needed a 54.5%) to pass

(3) pay the $50 app fee if passed the teas exam

(4) get an FBI check

The school contacted our high school and any college we went to for our transcripts

Attend an information session (Required). Schedule an appointment to take the HESI. Same day as scheduling, fill out application for admission, complete with high school transcripts and any college coursework. Take exam, 76% or higher on all sub-fields to be considered. After testing, wait for a call to come interview with the CND or a nursing instructor. After your interview, your file is reviewed and you are given a certain amount of points, for being a CENA, being CPR certified, the higher the test score, the higher your points, as well as transcripts. Afterward, a decision is made a few weeks later and if accepted, you get background check, physical, immunization records, and then you attend one-day orientation. You get books, materials, and uniforms, and then you start! Because of my test scores, I was accepted at my interview after my interviewer spoke briefly with the CND. So certain things take precedence.

Mine's fairly similar. We take pre-reqs including A&P, Eng 101, Psych 101 and a math course. Going by your grades on those, you are accepted. You take the first semester (No TEAS, I think they go by grades or maybe the college placement test), then you have summer to get your immunizations, physical, PPDs, titers and so on to hand into the health office. You also purchase a background check and an AHA BLS card. Then the fall semester starts and you start doing clinicals.
