travel time to school

hello everyone, I was wondering how long do you travel to your school and how far do you travel to your clinical sites. I will be traveling 35miles away from my home to school, in california early ugly morning traffic, and clinicals will be up to 50 mile out away from school.

I travel about 1 mile to my school & 2 miles for our first clinical. Our other clinicals will be 30-50 miles away (varies).

I am in Los Angeles and in the suburbs. I went to Cal State Los Angeles and just to get to the university took me an hour, without traffic. My clinicals were in the surrounding area..although one was in Bellflower and Torrance--with traffic it was bad. After all was said and done, I wish I had gone to a community college that was close to home (there were 2 within 12 miles from my home). The wear and tear on me and the car, not to mention going the day before to get info on the pt and work up the care plan that night was difficult especially since I had to be back at the hospital at 6 am to check the chart, etc. and be ready for pre clinical.

Lots of time wasted in the drive that could have been used in study. Eventually it became too much and with the added stress of becoming caretaker of a very ill family member, I had to drop. Now doing distant learning at Ind State U.

1 mile?! Jealous! Such a sweet commute! No excuse for you to be late ;)

When I attended an LVN program in California several years ago, I traveled 95 miles one way (190 miles round trip). My commute was 5 days per week.

I now attend an RN bridge program in another part of the country and my commute to this school is 225 miles one way.

Wow @ TheCommuter! I do not see how you can do that. I guess if you have the "Drive" you can do anything.

When I attended an LVN program in California several years ago, I traveled 95 miles one way (190 miles round trip). My commute was 5 days per week.

I now attend an RN bridge program in another part of the country and my commute to this school is 225 miles one way.

My hat (if I had one) is off to you. You are one seriously committed person. :yeah: Stay healthy and well.

45 miles one-way to school, 45-55 miles for clinicals. I got a new car last year for the commute!

12 miles one way to school, clinicals for me vary from 15 miles to 50 miles one way.

my commute is two and a half to three hours in each direction......i travel on average 5.5hrs a day and sit in class for 8!!

Wow, some of you are really dedicated. I travel less than a mile to school, and my furthest clinical I believe is maybe 5-10 miles away. I only make a guess because we haven't gotten a list of where all the clincal sites are. My first clinical is a couple blocks past my school so I really lucked out so far. Hats off to those of you who actually travel. Way to go.
