I am in the lpn program too... and it is "do able" I have two kids (6 and 5) and a husband that is in the reserves. I hold a full time job and I have been going to school for over two ears now.... If I can anyone can!

I attend school full-time and my baby is almost 5 months old. It's hard but do able. The most important part is having good, reliable childcare in place because you cannot afford to miss days. Lucky for me my mother watches my baby 3 days per week and my husband is off the other two. You have to consider that you will have to spend hours after class studying and you might have group projects so you will be unavailalbe for more hours than just classtime. It also helps if your spouse understands that you will not have time to do much cooking or cleaning and he does his part around the home. I usually come home from school and spend an additional hour or two reviewing my work and doing HW. I still manage to find some time during the day to spend with my husband. I always take at least an hour out of the day to do something with him and talk. It's hard to find the time but I manage.

You can do it!! Right now you are just feeling a little over whelm. Just wait until your first week or two of school before you make any decision. Try it out and see!!! You can do it !!!

If your not planning on working then your child just needs the best care from 9-5. My sister is a nurse and I was working from home and while she was schooling I had him all day...She had it easy because I was always home. At any rate I still say you would be fine if your not going to work at the same time. Good Luck with your studies :)

It's hard, but possible. I started LPN school with a 2mo (who I was still BFing), a 1yo, and a 4yo. I had to go and pump milk on our lunch breaks. Oh, and I was also waiting tables 4 nights a week (had to pay daycare in order to go to school). I used a 1/2 tank of gas everyday driving from home to daycare to school to work. Let's just say it was a rough year, but I finished when half of my class didn't.

While I do not have children, I attended a full-time LVN program with hours from 8am to 3pm Monday through Friday. There were several mothers with young children in this class who all passed the course successfully. However, they did not work while attending school. In addition, they had family members who were willing to provide daycare during odd hours.

I did it and it was hard work. Flexible child care is very important.

So is lowering your standards. The house doesn't have to be spotless--time with the children is more important. Meals don't have to meet Martha Stewart standards -- filling and balanced is what I aimed for.

You're busy and depending on your spouse, your relationship can/will suffer. My class had two divorces, one separation, one teenaged child attempting suicide (Mum dropped out to spend time at home) and one teenager got pregnant. These events can happen to anyone at anytime but when you are in an intense programme they can quickly take priority to school.

It can be done, but its not easy as some on the board would have you believe. Just expect to put a lot of your life on hold for four semesters or however long it is in your neck of the woods. I missed sports day (clinicals), hot lunch days (I'd planned and served for years), lost friends who were SAHMs. But I made a few new friends but still lost a part of my life that I valued.

They are only little once and for a very short time.

I'm in a full-time RN program with two kids and no husband, no family.

I don't work much ( maybe 4 hours per week as an extern) and I don't do much else but go to school and take care of kids.

My house is clean now, but I'm sure it will decline slowly as tht semester progresses.

I'm in the third semester of five and I'll graduate in Dec., so yes it's doable.

I am a 24 yr old student, married, and have a 2 year old. I actually started taking my prerequisites right after I had my baby. Had her in December and went straight back to class in January along with working full time. I worked during my 1st semester of the nursing program and am now into my last semester (graduating in May 07). I don't work now and am just going to school full time until I am done. It is a lot of work having a baby and trying to do all your homework/studying, but you have to sacrifice some things in order to achieve what you want :wink2: ... as long as you have a good babysitter or someone you can rely on taking care of your baby while you are at school and studying, study hard, and you should do fine!!

I admire those of you who have young children and are still getting your education. I do believe that where there is a will, there is a way. As for me, I'm the mom of 6, and I meandered my way through, until finally, now that my youngest is 12, I've finally taken the plunge. I might be older, but I'm completely motivated. BTW, I've got two still at home, 15 and 12.

I was a single mother of 3. Working 16 hours a week. Went to school that was an hour drive there and back. If u want it bad enough, you'll find it in you to do it. It will be stressful and demanding but sweet inthe end.

Good Luck!!!
