 So I'm about to be in 9th grade. I was wondering can you take lpn classes in 9th grade or 10th grade? Also how to take lpn's classes in High School? Please answer my questions please? Thank You.

Ps: I live in Miami, Fl.

I can't answer for Florida but I'm pretty positive that you have to have a high school dipolma or GED AND be 18 years old or older here in Connecticut.

If you are interested in becoming a nurse (LPN or RN) my best advice is take a look around the colleges you might be interested in and see what classes they require for admission. Bear in mind, this might change during your years in high school but most are pretty much the same.

Be sure to take a chemistry class, biology and A&P, also, Algebra. Keep your grades up!

I'm pretty impressed, not a freshman in high school yet but you are already looking to your future! Thats a good thing.

You might also consider looking to see if any high school in your area offer the LPN program. There was one high school in my area (New York) that offered the LPN program in conjunction with the regular education courses for many years, but stopped doing it last semester due to the current economic state of affairs.

I thought that was an EXCELLENT way to bring new grads into the workforce almost immediately after graduation from high school. And, it worked perfectly for them, I think, because many of them pursued their RN while they were still below 20 years of age (before life caught up with them).

Best of luck to you!

A few high schools across the country offer the LPN program as a vocational program for high school seniors who are interested in pursuing a vocational track as opposed to a college-bound pathway. Most students are usually 17 years of age when they start attending, and are 18 by the time they have graduated and have attained licensure. The students take the LPN courses concurrently with their senior high school classes.

Try Miami Lakes Education Center or Robert Morgan Education center. They are both high & adult schools.

Under the school information tab you can click on the names of the schools and get more information.

GOOD LUCK!!

umm you deff do not have to be 18 and graduated lol then why would they have the classes availble in high school!

I live in Charlotte County Florida. If you were a student in Charlotte County, you were able to apply to get into the LPN program at Charlotte Technical Center. They took students during their Junior year and if they stayed with the program by the end of their Senior year they would be able to sit for the NCLEX-LPN and have a career right out of high school. Definitely look into it, and speak with your high school counselor about it! Be sure to get really good grades in all of your classes, especially sciences and take Anatomy and Physiology by the end of 10th grade. Good luck!

I have highschoolers in my class right now. I live in Virginia and some schools like mine do offer it, but only during the senior year. My program is 18 months. So for the first nine months, adults go for 3 hours a day as well as the seniors. They do their regular classes in the day and the Lpn class in the evenings for the first nine months. The second nine months they are now graduated, and we all go to school all day for the last 9 months. Also it is free for the seniors here and they didnt have to take the Teas test. Hope this helps

Umm, in Connecticut you definitely DO have to be 18 and either have a high school diploma or a GED in order to attend the LPN schools. We don't have high schools that offer the LPN training while in high school so your LPN schooling is done once you graduate high school/obtain your GED. We do have tech high schools that have LPN programs offered through the State but its for post high school/GED grads, not the high school students.

And you DO have to be 18 (a legal adult) in order to get your license here in Connecticut.

But since the OP is from Florida, they might have schools that offer the LPN schooling while you are attending high school. Which then you could be under 18 and taking the classes.

Here in Chicago there are a few Lpn programs in selected high schools, but its usually broken up in your junior/senior year. You will most likely take general ed classes first then do clinicals at the start of senior year. You qualify to take the exam and get your license after you graduate. I think my daughter wants to go this route also. Just look up schools in your area that carry this program, and get info. Good Luck to You!!

Hey, I just graduated from a LPN program at my high school. I'm from Pompano Beach, FL. My school had a medical magnet program and one of the pathways was nursing. For the first three years we did prerequisites (A&P, Research, etc.)and the last year (senior year) we were in the actual LPN program.
