Hi,

I was wondering how many of you might be pursuing your RN licensure and if so by which route; ADN or BSN?

Also, what level are you in? How much time have you got left? And in general how's it goin'? Do you find your assignments are little more difficult than your peers with no prior nursing experience?

I'm in my 2nd level of a BSN program. It's gone pretty good considering I'm older now, have a family, more bills, a commute and harder job than I did while going to LVN school. Classes are a little easier b/c I was exposed to so much of it already. :) I do find my assignments (pts.) are a little more difficult than what others get. Had one instructor just this pass week recommend a very manic pt with severe delusions to me during our psych rotation b/c as she said to the charge nurse there, "She's a nurse and can handle it." LOL...While I appeciate the confidence I'd kind of like to, well I guess I'd like to have it as easy as everyone else...

Hello,

I'm also pursuing my RN degree. I haven't actually started an RN program yet, but I'll get there. I graduated high school in June 2003 and only did one semester of prerequisite classes and then I was accepted into the LVN program Spring 2004 and graduated Spring 2005. So, right now I'm trying to finish up my prereq classes for which ever RN program I get accepted to. I think for right now Im going to do the ADN route since it's only a 1 year LVN-RN ladder program. :)

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

I'm pursuing RN ADN. Happy to report that I recently got accepted and will be starting clinicals in Jan. :)

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I just completed an LVN program on October 14 and plan to pursue my RN licensure eventually. I might as well attempt it at this point in my life since I have no husband, children, or other major distractions (except bills). I plan to take it slowly/moderately by taking one or two prerequisite classes per semester until they're all completed.

I changed from the BSN program to the ADN program at the local college. I have about 3 semesters left to go. :stone

I wish we had a year LPN-RN ladder program here. How sweet that would be.

Me....looking for BSN.

I am also pursuing my BSN here in AB canada

it is home school through Athabasca university and I find the courses are fairly heavy.

It will prob. take me 4 years to complete ...because I am slow:chuckle .

But what is the ADN program? 1 year..that sounds good to me.

And i have no idea when i'll be done lol.

Hello Everyone, I too am going to school to become an RN. Here in NC the CC offer the Lpn to Rn bridge program which is only 1 year. I'll be graduating May 2006. I find theory easier since I've been a lpn for 6 years, although I do agree about getting the hardest assingment in clinical. While the other students are holding up the wall daydream I'm usually somewhere working up a sweat or out of my mind trying to critical think. But its all comming to an end soon and very soon!

Hi AjohnsonLVN,

As juvynurse said, "I wish we had a year LPN-RN ladder program here. How sweet that would be." Very sweet indeed!

I think you'll find your prereqs are going to be a lot easier for you with your introduction to many of the same concepts through your LPN education. :)

Good Luck!

Yea! Congratulations, Jess!

Just wanted to say I think you're going to make an excellent nurse. I've seen many of your posts and you convey great compassion and always seem to be very conscientious.

Of course, I may just be transferring my impression of you from the pic of the little angel on your avatar...lol

Is this your daughter? She's prescious.

Yes, please do! I sure wish I had when I was younger...lol

BTW, I thought I had read in one of your previous post that you might be moving to Texas soon. Have you made the move yet? If so, how's it goin'?
