NLN PN-RN ACE Childbearing/Health Exam
I took the NLN ACE exam in 2004 and what I remembered is that the test you on pre-natal care of the mother such as STDS, the required labs. Question were asked on the actual stages of labor and deliver. Care of the newborn. For the baby portion they asks question on developmental stages. Cleft lip and palate. Question on safety. I belive they give 100 question for the maternal portion and 98 question for the newborn. The CC I attend gave study guides and I studied from the same book they used for the OB portion of the program. I hope I helped.

Fear keeping me behind?
I have never been friends with math, however I do respect math. When I first started school I dreaded math but I knew that I'd be facing it so the CC I attended they offered a refresher course and it helped me a whole lot.

Can't study for the NCLEX anymore
I too take my RN exam Oct.2. and I'm all studied out. When I was studying for my LPN boards I studied everywhere, on the bus, on the train and in the bathroom. Now when I try to study like that it don't click like it use to. But I'm hopeful that we'll do great. Stay positive and do you best.

Does this bother you?
Hey guys, As I stated before I graduated from HS and vocational school at the same time, passed stated board the first time and have been working as a lpn , went back to school to become a Rn. Its doable. When I graduate from school I was 18. When the program begun, it was a total of 60 teens in there both girls and boys. The second year only 22 people were in the class. By the end of the program only 6 of us graduate. This program is offered in 2 places in Miami dade. Homestead Sr. High and Edison Sr. High. I graduated from Homestead and the last time I checked its still going strong. This was a great program for me and the group that I graduated with, all of us have gone on to get higher degrees. The average high schooler might not be ready for a program of this magnitude but some one who is intrested in nursing and willing to work hard for it will do great. All I saying is I did it and no I'm no braniac, but I belive in studying hard, working hard and the power of prayer.

Does this bother you?
Hey God's Child, to be honest this really doesn't bother me. I went to vocational school while in high school and graduate with my HS diploma and Lpn diploma. I took state board and starting working as a lpn the following year at a near by nursing home. The graduating class that year was only 6 people and only 4 of us passed state borad the first time we took it. That is a great program for those individual who are willing to buckle down and and get through it. Not too many high schooler will be intrested in the program due to the fact that alot of time will have to be spent reading nursing books, drug book and preparing care plans. Along with summer school that is mandatory for the program. I'm glad I went through it , it helped pave the way to my Rn.

difficulty being a student again
I liked being back in the classroom again learning in depth knowledge about disease process, but clinicals were bitter sweet. For nursing 4 I had an instuctor who was very laid back, If I ever had a question or needed her help she was always available. For nursing 5, my clinical instructor didn't want me to give the pt. water to drink if she wasn't present let alone pass pill or do treatment without her over shadowing me. Thank God thats over.

Pay increase after bridging?
At the hospital I work at, I was told that they wouldn't count my experience as Lpn. If I accepted a Rn position I would start out as a new Rn grad. I couldn't belive it.

for those of you that have done LPN to RN bridge
The Rn program builds on your knowledge. It will advance your assessment skills. You'll get a broader knowledge base of disease process, diagnostic studies and the expected outcome.

Need Information on LVN to RN
Most community college offer the LPN to RN transition program which consist of a transition course and the last 2 semester of the Rn program. Most community college require that all pre-req courses be completed, some community colleges require that an exam be passed for admission into the Rn program. It all depend on the school requirement so get to the neartest commuity colleges in your area and starting checking out their individual requirement. Good luck! Hey Debsuztx, I graduate in May too! Congrats to all may graduates, especially the Lpns to Rns.
