  1. Hey, Try going online to NCBON.com. I believe you can down load the application and pay the fee for reciprocity. I reciprocityed from fla to nc in 2001 and I think it cost about $120 dollars. I hope this information helped
  2. I took the NLN ACE exam in 2004 and what I remembered is that the test you on pre-natal care of the mother such as STDS, the required labs. Question were asked on the actual stages of labor and deliver. Care of the newborn. For the baby portion they asks question on developmental stages. Cleft lip and palate. Question on safety. I belive they give 100 question for the maternal portion and 98 question for the newborn. The CC I attend gave study guides and I studied from the same book they used for the OB portion of the program. I hope I helped.
  3. I have never been friends with math, however I do respect math. When I first started school I dreaded math but I knew that I'd be facing it so the CC I attended they offered a refresher course and it helped me a whole lot.
  4. I too take my RN exam Oct.2. and I'm all studied out. When I was studying for my LPN boards I studied everywhere, on the bus, on the train and in the bathroom. Now when I try to study like that it don't click like it use to. But I'm hopeful that we'll do great. Stay positive and do you best.
  5. Hey guys, As I stated before I graduated from HS and vocational school at the same time, passed stated board the first time and have been working as a lpn , went back to school to become a Rn. Its doable. When I graduate from school I was 18. When the program begun, it was a total of 60 teens in there both girls and boys. The second year only 22 people were in the class. By the end of the program only 6 of us graduate. This program is offered in 2 places in Miami dade. Homestead Sr. High and Edison Sr. High. I graduated from Homestead and the last time I checked its still going strong. This was a great program for me and the group that I graduated with, all of us have gone on to get higher degrees. The average high schooler might not be ready for a program of this magnitude but some one who is intrested in nursing and willing to work hard for it will do great. All I saying is I did it and no I'm no braniac, but I belive in studying hard, working hard and the power of prayer.
  6. Hey God's Child, to be honest this really doesn't bother me. I went to vocational school while in high school and graduate with my HS diploma and Lpn diploma. I took state board and starting working as a lpn the following year at a near by nursing home. The graduating class that year was only 6 people and only 4 of us passed state borad the first time we took it. That is a great program for those individual who are willing to buckle down and and get through it. Not too many high schooler will be intrested in the program due to the fact that alot of time will have to be spent reading nursing books, drug book and preparing care plans. Along with summer school that is mandatory for the program. I'm glad I went through it , it helped pave the way to my Rn.
  7. Kelly, I'm sure you did better than expected. I too am a Lpn.I plan to battle the beast in Aug.
  8. I liked being back in the classroom again learning in depth knowledge about disease process, but clinicals were bitter sweet. For nursing 4 I had an instuctor who was very laid back, If I ever had a question or needed her help she was always available. For nursing 5, my clinical instructor didn't want me to give the pt. water to drink if she wasn't present let alone pass pill or do treatment without her over shadowing me. Thank God thats over.
  9. At the hospital I work at, I was told that they wouldn't count my experience as Lpn. If I accepted a Rn position I would start out as a new Rn grad. I couldn't belive it.
  10. I finished the Rn program last week thursday. The pinning ceremony is this tuesday and graduation is on the 25th. I'm so happy school is over. Being an Lpn I really don't think Nclex will be tough.
  11. I'm a may graduate, yesterday was the final and I signed for my final grade. So next tuesday is the pinning ceremony and graduation is on the 25th. I too can't believe its finally over. 2006 Graduates rule!
  12. Yes! Finally! count me in. My last day of school for at least a year will be May 11. Pinning is May 16 and I plan on catwalking across the stage May 25. Congrats to all the May/June graduates.
  13. This summer I will be studying for NCLEX-RN. My pinning date is May 16 and graduation is May 25. Good luck my fellow LPN-RN!
  14. The Rn program builds on your knowledge. It will advance your assessment skills. You'll get a broader knowledge base of disease process, diagnostic studies and the expected outcome.
  15. Most community college offer the LPN to RN transition program which consist of a transition course and the last 2 semester of the Rn program. Most community college require that all pre-req courses be completed, some community colleges require that an exam be passed for admission into the Rn program. It all depend on the school requirement so get to the neartest commuity colleges in your area and starting checking out their individual requirement. Good luck! Hey Debsuztx, I graduate in May too! Congrats to all may graduates, especially the Lpns to Rns.
  16. We used Tortora and Gabowski . The lecture book was $110 and the lab book was $40. I really did enjoy learning out of this book.
  17. I believe that its every 50 minutes counts as I CEU.
  18. Good morning Guys, Yes I'll be attending my pinning ceremony and graduation. For the pinning ceremony we're required to wear our uniforms and have the hair up off the collor. We had to buy our pins and they were priced at the $35-$150 range. I bought the gold filled one for $42. Our graduation is 10 days apart form our pinning ceremony and its done as a college at the local collisem. Good luck everybody!
  19. Hey Group, just adding my two cents. Being an Lpn has helped a whole lot, at the CC I attend I clept out of the first 3 semester of the Rn program. Here I am now with a little more than 2 months of school till graduation.Yes being a Lpn heeeellllpppps!
  20. I work at the hospital I do clinical at. Its never been a problem. I'm sure I couldn't precept on the unit I work on though. Now that I'm thinking about it, theres a nurses aide that works on the unit she does clinicals on and the clinical instructor knows about it. No I don't think it would be a conflict of intrest. However each school is differet.

Is the NLN anything like the ACE challenge exam. Is so there are three parts to it. Fundamental, OB and peds. If you have a advisor talk to them about the test to find out more about it. The CC I attend gave us a brief study guide for the OB and peds portion. I studied from a nclex-rn review book and it worked well for me. Passing the exam placed me into last year of the nursing program. Good luck to ya!
  22. Oh and I forgot to mention they do have alot of plant nursery as well. Theres an area called the redland that full of nursery and they may have organic farms.
  23. I grew up in Homestead Fla. They do have alot of farms there, I don't know about organic. The farms there are strawberry, cucumbers, beans and tomatoes. About safety, Homestead is like any place else you have your good area and your nots so good. You stated that she has mental issue, in Homestead there is a mental and health clinic called the "Martin Luther King "clinic located on W. Mowry st. About culture the state of Florida is a melting pot, homestead is no different. Theres people of all decsent such a mexicans, cubans, puetro ricans, hatians, dominicans, whites and blacks. They have a good public transportation system there. Theres a hospital in the area called Homestead Hospital. Many apartment area as well as homes. Theres a community college there, alot of shops and stores. Its a thriving neighbohood. I hope I answered your question.
  24. Hello Ama27, try speaking with a school counselor or advisor to find out if they have a Lpn to Rn bridge program. Ask about the requirments to being accepted into the program. Its important to know when to apply and when classes are set to begin. If you don't get any helpful infomation from the counselor then try talking with someone at the Nursing dept. I hope this information is helpful. Goodluck!
  25. I'm so happy for you, MereSanity! Last May when I recieved my acceptance letter I darn near fainted, I was so excited. I'm currently in Nursing 5, I too had an 8 week transition class and it was basic skills, math test and nsg diagnosis and assessment. Study hard and good luck.
