  1. At the pediatrian's office that I work at, based on protocol we do rectal temps for 1 year and under. Tympanic or oral for children older. Based on the age of the child >1 and what they can handle (tymp vs oral). My opinion would be to do what you are advised for school, but once you are working do what is based on the protocol for the facility that you are working at.

    Hello everyone--I am new to this web page, but I am very excited about it. I think this is what I've been searching for. Ok-I am a LPN working in a Pediatric office and I will be starting my RN program summer of this year at a local community college. They have a requirement that returning LPN's take the NLN before being admitted into the program to make sure you are at 2nd year level. Can anyone advise any good NLN practice books that I can purchase to make sure I am where I need to be. I need to brush up some on the basic nursing care skills (at least what they are teaching in school)!!! Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
