First day of class...

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Today was my first day of class for the LPN program!! Whoo hoo!! When I got there I was really nervous but I really don't think it's going to be that bad. Yeah it's going to take a lot of hard work but I don't think it's as bad as what a lot of people have said. I only have to go for eight hours on one day and the other three days are only until noon. Is that pretty much what everyone else did or was it more like M-F 8-5? We covered five chapters today but they were all really short so it wasn't that much info really. How is everyone else doing? What are the others school programs like?

I am really loving it! I'm going part time. We spend 2 days a week, from 8-4pm, in class. I know the full timers go 5 days a week for those times, too. I am having fun with A&P but looking forward to Nursing Fundamentals.

my lpn program starts next month at a technical school. i will be going to school 8a-3p mon-fri for 15 months. they also have evening classes 5:30-9:30 mon-thurs but that takes 22 months.

good luck to everyone starting school!

My program will start in October its 10 months 6-10 pm Tuesday-Friday and Sat8-12 I think. Orientation is next Monday. I wonder about the length of the program. Why are some programs 22 months or 15 months? I wonder am I missing something in this 10 month time frame

I just started my LPN program this week and they are just 2-3 hour classes. We go by block scheduling where we choose to go either in the morning or the afternoon. I'm kinda glad that we don't go all day but I still have General Ed classes that I'm taking in the afternoon and that leaves me a huge gap between each class so that gives me more time to study since I'm not working right now. But I'm interested in how my A&P class will turn out. Looks like we have a tough teacher on our hands. :uhoh3:

What part of Indiana?...mine started Monday and I am going to Ivy Tech. So far so good. I'm just terrified I'm going to be late for class or something (big no-no)! Good luck to you!

My program is privately ran by a hospital and its 13 month but it everyday M--F 8-4 or clincals day 6:30- 3:30. i know we learn everything we even get IV certified;) wow your class just 4 hours day, how lucky are. Most programs around here run 18+ months, but i have been told this one runs 13 months because we don't get all the semester break like the tech school and its hospital base so there is no scheduling of clincals at other hospitals etc and that make sense :chuckle

i have classes on tues from 8-2:10, wed 12-4:30, and fri 7:30-3:30 (skills lab) for right now...our lab only runs for 6 weeks and after that clinicals start. We will go 2 days a week...either mon, thur, or fri..so once everything gets started good we will have class 4 days a week. Good luck to everyone.

South Bend.

South Bend.

I go to IvyTech in Anderson. The instructors are great and so far it isn't very intimidating. Not anything like what I've been reading that others have posted here. Things are relaxed there. I don't think they are trying to weed anyone out or anything like that. They want everyone to succeed. I guess I picked the right school or got lucky one!!

My first day of class is Thursday Sept 2. We don't have to be there until 9:00 that day. But regular classes are M-F 8-3 for classroom and 7-3 for clinical. We had to do the first 15 chapters of Math for Meds-Dosages and Solutions before school even started. We are wearing uniforms everyday. How about everyone else?????? :rotfl:
