Anyone else feel the Earthquake?

that was weird.

I was in a very boring departmental meeting when my chair suddenly started moving under me. And I swear I saw the floor ripple! Everyone was like - Whoa! WHAT was that? If that was a tremor, I don't want to feel the real thing!

It was a 5.5 magnitude quake centred near Cumberland, Ontario. It's NOT a TRE-mor!

It was felt in Detroit - they interrupted my soaps to do a 30 minute report on it - and Philly, Montreal closed 4 of its 5 metro lines and all trains travelling east from Kingston are delayed at least 2 1/2 hours for track inspection.

I didn't feel a thing... in Alberta. :lol2:

When the quake is in Ottawa and you are in Toronto, I think what you feel qualifies as a tremor.

I'm surprised I didn't feel it in Rochester, NY when I was taking the NCLEX exam. The earthquake hit at the same time I started the exam 1:40pm!! I've heard some people in syracuse felt it. Never would have thought there would be earthquakes in Ontario and Quebec..

All I felt was a slight vibration of my desk. It felt like there was a heavy truck driving by. Of course, Ottawa is a good 8-9 hours away. My kids say that they didn't feel a thing at school.

Hi, I live not far from Cumberland and was sleeping after a night shift when the quake happened. Since I usually sleep with my dog, I'm sure that he moved around and that woke me up. Gee, the bed was moving and everything was like shaking. I had time to get out of bed, take my dog in one arm, ponder whether it was worth it to save my university diploma (which I didn't) and go out. As I was going out, the stairs were still moving, so I went to my driveway and stood there. Only two ladies were out across the street. So I just sat on a bench pondering if that was actually a quake or just a fruit of my imagination.

I came back inside and googled until I found a forum where people were commenting on the quake (CTV was down, BTW). I actually read that it lasted 108 seconds at the epicenter, which I truly belive. I tried to call my DH but phones were not working, but I was able to contact a friend after a little while. Once convinced that it was a quake I went back to bed, and only then I realized that I've been out with my PJ's. Thank Goodness it was a "decent" one, LOL.
