I got my "Dear First Lieutenant" congrat letter today

the envelope and letter were addressed to Dear First Liertenant ME

so now everyone in the little town I stay at know that I am in the AR because the mailman is also the town crier, but it was cool to see it in print. how long is it till we get our orders? the letter was mailed 2/20,

don't be packing your bags yet for OBC or anything else Army related yet!!! Ha HA!!!! I commissioned on 12/6/08...... got my letter about 2 weeks after that and am still waiting on my orders. supposedly there is a RFO at HRC in St. Louis for me (I found that out as result of my getting my panties in a bunch and getting after my recruiter)........... but who knows! I've never seen anything take so long in my life!!! and someone else here on the forum waited 89 days for her orders, and there is someone else on here who has been waiting since July. I honestly have just about given up.

I got my letter this week too. It was really cool to finally see it in print but Im like Edie, Im not holding my breath waiting for my orders.

as for me they can take their sweet time, I have thyroid surgery on 3/23 so if I have to drill the wkend before I could, then we dont drill till the end of april so I should be okay after surgery. I know the unit I will be with and I know their drill schedule, how long until we get our sign on bonus?

Question??? Does your time in service count from your commission date, the date your orders are sent or the 1st time you drill??? Seems like it takes a long while to get thru each step and for career dates (and retirement dates) I was wondering which date the military recognizes........

I was told that they will backdate your orders to date of commission.

without your orders you can't get past the gatekeeper nor do you get any $$$$ in any way shape or form. I am still waiting on that too!

I got mine before I even contacted my unit.
