RN Having a hard time finding a job

I am an RN and i have worked in an snf setting for almost 2 years and have some supevisory experience. Last month i resigned from the snf i was working for in granada hills ca here in LA county because i moved to another city which is farther and i don't want to go through the hassles of long commute. Thinking that since i'm an RN with some experience i wouldn't have a hard time applying for a nursing home job here in los angeles, but i guess that's not the case because its more than a month now and still i have not found one. So far I have inquired, went and filled up applications in 10 facilities but no response, a couple did but its always like "we might be anticipating a vacancy for an rn position soon, will call you or i'll call you when we need one". I'm scared i don't know how long will it take for me to find a job, but i wont stop trying. If anyone here knows of a nursing home in los angeles, santa monica, culver city area needing an RN , i would really appreciate an information.

If it's any comfort things are tight over here on the east coast to. I have over a year experience in ER so I'm not a new grad anymore. I have been applying for some jobs and have had no luck either. All throughout school we were told there will be plentiful jobs available. Hopefully the economy will get better soon.

Yes keep looking....and don't be too picky...I am going to apply soon.

Nindot if your resume looks like your post that might have been a reason. Your resume must be absolute error free, with perfect grammer. Keep looking and good luck.

Thanks for all your replies, i appreciate it. And Harleyhead sorry for the minor error in grammar. I was writing the post hastily earlier, didn't notice it, thanks anyway for the advice. Actually from my experience when i go to facilities to apply, they don't really ask for a hard copy of my resume, so i never bring one, they just ask you to fill up their application form. Anyway I guess i'll just have to be more patient, for sure i'll find one soon.

Nindot,

I was just wondering if you found a position yet? :banghead:

Hi neverending,

Yeah finally i got hired by an SNF here in playa del rey ca where i live, as an RN 3-11 supervisor. Thanked God after 2mos. of looking i finally found one. I'm still on orientation right now, and so far so good, i like the people i work with, they seemed nice and supportive. Thanks by the way for asking.

I might suggest that before you criticize someone else's 'grammer', you check your own spelling.:typing
