Our administrator came out with a new form today that all CNA's are to pass out to their residents at the beginning of each shift. It reads:

Your servers today will be:

nurse______________

CNA________________

Anyone want to share an opinion on this? I was told I was being to sensitive to this, so I figured I would let all your honest and humble opinions set me straight :rotfl:

Are you a nurse or a waitress?

Are you working for tips now?

That's really insulting...

Pardon the vernacular, but this ain't Applebee's.

Servers??????

How about a card that says "Hello, today is (the date). Your nurse will be (name, with RN or LPN) and Your CNA will be (name, with CNA).

That place is where they live, not a restaurant.

What is it with some people in administration??? Customer Service??? Servers???

We're not working at Kmart or Denny's, here, or if we are, i'm missing a LOT of tip money!

(alright, i feel better now, but this servant mentality just chaps my hide.)

This is not really appropriate terminology and I take offense. In our facility, we have a dry erase board in each pt's room that looks like this:

Today's date is:________________

Your nurse is:_________________

Your other health care team members:

________________________________

________________________________

That is more appropriate in my opinion. If we equate ourselves to servers, then our patients will treat us as such. We are professional, educated health care providers, not waitresses.:uhoh3:

I would flat out refuse to hand out a card like that.

PS It would be a little hard to pass out the forms when they are sitting in a rubbish bin don't you think? If every nurse just dumped the forms until they changed the wording they would soon get the message.

What is it that you're supposed to be serving?

"Would you care for fries with your Lopresor?"

"Would you like that enema Super Sized?"

gimme a break!

I would throw them all away and I would make sure administration knew exactly why. If they persisted, I would quit.

I would suggest to them that they just have signs stating something similar to what other people have posted. You know, something wild like,

Your Nurse Is:

Your Nurses' Assistant Is:

Grrrrrrrrrr...what are they thinking?!?!?!?!?!

Nascar nurse,

IMO, I think the "card" is totally demeaning and undermining to our profession.

Just out of curiosity, what did your collegues there @ the LTC think about it? Anyone willing to voice agreement with your sentiments or have you been left out to fend for yourself? Just wondered sense you said you were told you were "too sensitive."

Is there much unity there amongst the nursing staff?

Or, while throwing them out, explain that there's a typo on the card. Someone put 'server' on there instead of 'nurse'.
