What do you use to carry your books around?

I was wondering what is the best way to transport my books around? I have always used a regular backpack but from what I hear, nursing books are BIG and HEAVY!!! I would like to make my life easier and avoid damaging my body as much as possible :nono:. Is a rolling backpack the way to go? What do you guys use? Any recommendations?

rolling bags are ok, if you know how to drive them and dont act like 98% of the world and drag them over everyones toes and into their shins.

I just have a milk crate in the back of my car that i keep all my books in and go out and change them out at lunch. I stuff them in my one day pack from north face that I also use for hiking.

That is funny, that guy! "If you know how to drive them" :lol2: My daughter and I have a running joke about her huge rolling duffel bag "the slug" which I always have to get on her case about where she "parks" it. (she parks it in the middle of the living room just for yuks)

To the OP - rolling packs are a good solution. If you get a shoulder-style bag make sure when you turn around suddenly you don't knock anyone in the bag radius to the ground. 40 pounds of book creates some serious momentum. Ditto for bus/train rides.

I never bring my books to class. Just my binder and maybe clinical version of the text. Mostly you use powerpoints during lectures. Hopefully that will be the case for you too! Those books are HEAVY!

Same here. There's no way I'm bringing my 2000-page med/surg book to class every week. We rely on PP notes anyway.

I have a rolling backpack for the days I need to carry my textbooks to class. Other days, I just a tote bag. I would wait and see if your professors require you to bring the texts with you and it also depends on the class. My Fundamentals professor taught directly from the book so it was easier for me to follow along and highlight what she said rather than taking notes.

This I have never had to bring a book to class, in fact they told us not to bring them.

I use a big rolling bag, plus a smaller over the shoulder bag. I try and throw my txt in the little bag and take it with me whenever I get in the car just in-case I get stuck somewhere I can catch up on my reading. Otherwise I keep my binder and other books in the rolling backpack so that I can go to the library after class. I also keep a shoebox in the trunk of my car to hold my clinical supplies (badge, stethascope, germy pens, penlight, etc). Finally, I keep a second box for my clincal shoes, that way I don't have to contaminate the car or house with them. Good luck!

Unfortunately for the sake of fashion, a roller bag really is the way to go. I have a Jansport but it really doesn't make it any more cool looking. To be honest, by the end of nursing school no one cares anymore.

Yup me too. I've never really brought textbooks to class. The teacher will let you know if they want you to bring a book to class or it's on the calendar but I rarely bring them to class just my binder and print outs of the PP and some study material like Prentice Halls nursing rationales. I use an Under Armour backpack and I put my laptop in that bag.

I never bring my books to class either, and all most all the information I need for clinicals is now on my iphone in the Nursing Central ap!
