Terribly Disappointed!!!

I found out today that I will not be starting in the fall, but will have to wait until the spring to start in the nursing program. I realize one semester isn't the end of the world, but I really, really thought I would get to start in September.

I will be finished with all my prereq's in August, so I guess I will get some sort of temp job for the fall.

I knew this would probably happen and I thought I was prepared, but I guess I was secretly hoping everything would work out as I wanted.

Just feeling bummed and wanted to share.

I'm sorry. I can definitely relate to your situation. The bright side is that you can begin next spring. Take this extra time to rest, enjoy freedom, read novels, etc. Once you start the program, it will consume your life (sometimes good, sometimes bad, LOL).

I agree,, use the extra time to do a few things you want to do. You wont have the time after you start school. Pamper yourself a little before the stress starts..

I'm sorry about the disappointing news. Are there any other classes you can take while you are waiting? Maybe a class that you can use to pursue a BSN (assuming you're going into an ADN program).

This happened to me also!! I thought the wait would be forever, but turned out it was for the best. Good luck to you!

Don't worry LauraLou....this can be a blessing in disguise. This leaves you a couple of more months to study and prepare for January.

I wish I could work while waiting for them to accept me but unfortunately I have to be enrolled in school at all times because of my status. This is why I am begging the dean to accept me for the fall. My financial resources is getting low and it would be sad if I have no money and cannot go further. I cannot get a loan here neither a credit card, I have to pay every cent out of my pocket plus I have two children to support.

Laura, at least you are sure to be accepted for the fall. I wish you all the best and I know that you are going to be fine.

Well, congrats on being accepted to start with! Take the semester to work and help pay those tuition/book fees! lol Or take a vacation! My best friend and I will be going to the Dominican for a week before I start school, because we know it will be our only chance until after I graduate!

I get 3 chances when I apply...one school has a fall and winter start, and the other school has only a fall start. I will be grateful to be accepted at any place and any time!

Keep yourself busy! And best of luck to you!:D

At least you only have a one semester wait... if we don't get accepted, we have to wait an entire year and do the whole process over again.

LauraLou,

I understand exactly how you feel, and although you think you're prepared, you are always hoping for the positive answer. I applied for the Summer program at my community college that started in May, but was not accepted. So I've applied again for the Fall program that starts in September, and in the long wrong, it is going to be much better for me if I'm accepted then (I won't know til first week of August). It has allowed me to take my last prereq, plus Nutrition, which I'll need for my BSN after I get my ADN. Plus, with my husband being a teacher, he'll be back to work (meaning, have a paycheck coming in) in the Fall, when I'll have to quit my full time job to go to school full time. So, despite my disappointment ( I am so ready to be a full time student and a nurse!) I've realized that "when God closes a door, He opens a window!" And if, for some reason, I'm not accepted for Fall, I'll try again for the Spring program at my current school, plus the CC in the next county...one way or another, I will reach my goal. The secret is just having an alternate plan and determination.

Best of luck to you! Enjoy the "down" time and be gentle with yourself.

Oh big hugs to you. I can just imagine your disappointment. Hang in there, it's only one more semester.
