Student cheats off me in nursing school

Ok. I need some advice/information. Recently a classmate that i have been friends with for years whom i trust very much and was positive that she took her place in the nursing program just as serious as i did cheated off one of my papers . It was an assignment that was fairly easy to do but it contained questions that were somewhat opinion questions not just one word answers. Anyways I had turned in my paper and my friend asked me if I understood all of the questions and what the teacher was looking for. I told her that she could look at my answers to see how i answered them for a reference. She agreed so i emailed her my paper because we were just walking into class without another thought. I knew she was responsible and i had no doubt in my mind that she wouldn't take any of my information and use it as her own. In fact, at the time i didn't have any second thoughts about whether or not she would cheat off me. Well, i didn't hear anything else about it until a few weeks later when my teacher confronted us and said that we were getting a 0 on the papers and were being sent to the A&P committee to discuss the cheating. I was shocked. I had no idea what was going on and i asked my teacher if i could compare the papers to see what she was talking about. Well, sure enough there was my answers basically word for word on a few of her questions. I was in disbelief. I went to my meeting, told the entire truth that i sent her the paper for a reference and i had no idea she would copy any of my information and that i would never give out my work with the intent of letting others cheat off me. Anyways so my question is... Does anyone know what happens after the student leaves this meeting? And what do you think my consequences will be? I am so scared and upset I know now that i should of never gave her my paper because of the temptation but i honestly did not think i was doing anything wrong at the time. Please leave me some positive feedback if you can! -And just in case anyone thinks this is just an excuse ITS NOT this is the honest truth of what happened and it seems like the committe understood that i was not the one who cheated fyi

The committee talks and then they will let you know of their decision. Unfortunately, it is also your word versus hers. There is a good chance she is painting a picture of you sent her the information so she can cheat off of it in order to pass. If you had emails, I would have printed them out. It would be nice if your friend tells the same truth as you, but don't be surprised if she tells a completely different truth so the punishment is shared equally.

Thank you for the input! I did have a print out of the email/texts and as far as I'm aware my friend(not quite friend anymore) told the truth and she said her meeting went somewhat bad while mine actually went very well. Thank you again!

I'm sorry you were taken advantage of. I'm glad you were able to provide proof that you were not the cheater! I guess now you know for next time. I hope the committee decides in your favor!

I'm sorry it happened. Sometimes people you think are your friend, aren't. But if you had proof & she was honest, hopefully they won't punish you. It seems like you were just trying to be nice & help her out. She, on the other hand, just wanted the easy way out. I don't know what she was thinking copying your work & trying to pass it off as her own. Word for word? Geeze.

Since you have proof that you mailed the work product to her, not vice versa, that will be a benefit to you. Perhaps this will be the end of it.

hopefully the lesson learned to all reading this is, if someone wants to see your work, it should be "eyes only" if at all.

I continue to be amazed at the cheating posts on here...it's truly mind-boggling to me...

Hang in there. She broke your trust by doing this when you were only trying to help, the fault is hers and hers alone. I won't caution you against helping others in the future, because by helping others you cement the material in your own mind. However, I'd be careful how you do it. Don't let the written copy out of your sight.

Yes exactly! If anything that's what I learned from this!!!

Unbelievable....my first response was toss her behind right under that bus!

It is good that you turned in your paper before sharing your notes making it very clear who took advantage of the situation.

I just showed this to my daughter who is entering nursing school in the fall who has a big heart and would have done exactly what you did....she learned something today and I thank you for that. What Mom says sometimes only goes so far.

I feel just terrible for what you're going through. I think we've all had friends whom we'd never think would do such a thing to us. I'm so sorry she decided to take the "easy" way out and cheat off your paper. The good thing is, you have the truth on your side. Let's hope the committee understands that you didn't do this with the intent to cheat, that you honestly felt you were truly helping your friend with the assignment.

Good luck & let us know what happens! :D

You learned two lessons today...never to do something like this again and who this girl really is. For her to take a chance on you being kicked out of school says a lot about her unfortunately. Best of luck to you- it sounds like it will go in your favor?
