Reading for pleasure

I am set to start nursing school in Jan and am an avid reader. Were you guys able to get any good reading in while in nursing school?

My deal with myself is study during the day read in bed st night.... for every two hours studying I earn 30 mins reading. I need it as "me time". So I get some good books in here and there. Although some books that I get really into tend to distract me sometimes. I consider that normal!

I love reading. As soon as my winter break hits, I have three books that I will enjoy when I want. However, if you pick up a book and can't put it down until it is finished, don't read in nursing school. If I could only read for thirty minutes, I would, and if you can, do. Just remember, school is for such a short amount of time and it goes by so quickly. You can look forward to your semester breaks and pick it up then. Cheers!

I feel guilty reading anything not nursing. I used to love reading so I will enjoy it again.... Once I graduate.

I read every single night. And I don't feel guilty about it. I need some time to escape the realities of family, work, and school and reading is how I do it. No matter what I have going on or what time I get in bed, I'll read for at least 15 minute. Usually I read about 30.

"notes on nursing"

"the making of a nurse"

"how we do harm" ( top 3 favorite read ever)

"how doctors think"

I think the summer after I graduated from college, I read 5 books for pleasure... which was more than I read in my entire college career.

I'm finishing my first nursing semester, I work part time, and I am a mother of 3 young children...if I didn't take the time to read a few mindless historical romance novels I'd crack...they are my sanity. I usually start and finish 1 a week. (I download them on my phone and read whenever I get a moment alone)

Nope, no reading time for me. By the time I go to school, go to my extra classes, study, get clinical paperwork done, cook, spend time with family, workout and run, etc....there is nothing left. I only have 1 semester left though. I have a list of books ready as soon as I graduate.

I like science fiction. because I worked all night as an LVN and attended school in the day I didn't read any novels while in school.

I read short fiction in magazines like "Analog Science Fiction and Fact" and "The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction".

I also enjoyed Reader's Digest.

I was/am generally so tired that I can't stand reading anymore than I have to... I have been known to try and read while in the tub or something, but it takes me several months to finish a book because I can't handle more than a few pages and I'm a prolific reader outside of nuring school

While I was in nursing school I read during meals(which I snuck into the college library). Also in bed at night and while braiding my hair in the morning. There's always time.
