Hello All! it's me again harassing other members. Anywho I was wondering, those of you who took statistics, is there a way i can prepare for it? i was thinking of buying the book and trying to go through the chaters and i think my school has math workshops throughout the summer. is this a good idea or do yall think im just gonna really stress myself out;)

Don't stress over stats. I didn't think the math was really all that difficult. Are you good with computers? My class used EXCEL a lot, so it really helped that I am good with that program.

I thought statistics was actually kind of fun. Of course that probably speaks more to my sick mind than to the actual nature of the class... Our school also offered a statistics help room. I never used it, but I heard from other students that they got a lot of assistance from it.

Good luck!

Todd

I agree with Todd. You'll do fine. I would definitely utilize the help labs. :)

I'm taking it now... and if I would have tried to go through the book I would have been more confused. It really isn't that bad. Just take good notes and keep up with the homework. I'm not a math person, but stats is really a different way of thinking about things, it isn't all "math".

I agree--if you try and get a head start and figure things out on your own, you may only get confused. This is one of those classes where it really helps to have the teacher walk you through the concepts.

It's not so bad. For me it was just sooooo boring.

My advice- plan on spending serious time and determination on this course so that you don't get frustrated with yourself. Everyone seems to have difficulty so go to the labs, start homework early and stick with it. And don't give up when they throw probablilities at you- I haven't met anyone but the profs that "gets" them completely

Good to see you again Miss JKm

Is this a summer course?, if so how long is it? I just registered to take statistics during the summer. it is seven weeks, classes are 24 days a week, 2-3 hrs long. Opinions, I kinda thinking it will be too hard, but i want to take the class and get it over with and i want to give myself a challenge. Good idea or..........

I didn't think stat was bad at all, I'm NOT good at math and I got an A-. It helps to know what you're doing on the computer though. Just relax and enjoy your time off while you can!

Hi,

I took Statistics a couple of years ago. I did well in the class, but you have to keep up with it. What can make or break you is your instructor. I had a dynamite teacher who explained concepts, etc well. I have talked to others who ended up lost mainly due to the instructors. The best of luck to you in taking it, especially during the summer.

I completely agree with the last post, the teacher makes a huge difference. I had a great teacher who really simplified what the book said since just reading the book was so confusing. I made an A in the class. Good luck in statistics.

I HATED STATS WITH A PASSION! Ok, I'll be the odd ball here. The reason was PROBABLY because I was taking Chem, A&P1, Comp, Dev. Psych with it. I just had WAY to much on my little plate and felt to much pressure with hundreds of hours of studying.

The teach makes a huge difference. If your not to bogged down, Im sure you will do just fine. I know I would have!
