I got accepted!

Nursing Students General Students

I am glad to say that I have been accepted into the BSN program. I had applied for the 16month accelerated program, but that one was full, so I requested to apply for the traditional program. I applied the first week in January and just got my acceptance today. I was accepted into the school and the program of nursing, I start the nursing courses in the Spring, but I can finish some of the prerequisites this fall.

I had applied to a diploma nursing school and i still haven't heard anything. I really wanted to start the program this fall, but as long as I am in it shouldn't matter. I do feel nervous now. I have heard stories and read the forums of ADN vs BSN. I have heard with the ADN you get more clinical training. The ADN program only has 8 classes whereas the BSN has 14 classes. I don't have to repeat my science courses at the BSN. They don't care that they are over 10 years old. The ADN is 2 years vs 3 for the BSN. I won't get much aid for the ADN since they are affliated with the community college. I have too many credits to get aid at the community college. The BSN program is a private school so I am sure I will get more aid. I want to quit my job and work as a STNA on the weekends or on the days I don't have class. I can't wait to leave this job eventhough I will be taking a big pay cut, but I had hoped the aid I get would help cover some of my living expenses such as my mortgage and car note.

I am not sure what I want to do now. I thought I knew, but now I feel nervous.

Congratulations! Go out & celebrate :yeah:

Congratulations...I know it's such a relief to get that letter in the mail. I know where I live the students in the ADN program get more clinical experience than the BSN students at the university here...no idea why, just depends on that school's program, I don't think they are all like that. Anyway when we graduate (I'm in a diploma program) it's one more semester to obtain our BSN thru a univeristy nearby which is what most people do. I would like to go to graduate school so I do plan on getting my BSN.

So whatever you decide good luck and again congratulations! :)

Congratulations!!

At my school, BSN and ADN students all do clinical/lecture/lab together, so the same amount of clinical time for everyone. In fact, they give the BSN students an AD along with the ADN students so they can take the NCLEX and start working if they wish, but then the BSN students just continue on with the extra classes necessary for the advanced degree. I forget what they call this program, but it works well.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

HEEEY! YOU GO GIRL!

:yeah:

Yay!! Congratulations BMW!

I'm in an ADN program right now, and love it.. went this route the same reason you did the BSN route: It was much quicker and easier for me to get in. (been waiting and waiting, and up to my eyeballs in prereq's for the BSN!)

And just as a side note - When it comes to money you'll find that you have the upper hand right now in your BSN program, as there are dozens more scholarships and grants out there that 2-yr students like me don't qualify for.

Time to pat yourself on the back!!

Congratulations! Where did you get in? I agree with some of the others, it really depends on where you get in. The number of clinical hours vary from program to program. Good luck!

CONGRATS!!!

I hope to be posting the exact same thing at the end of March...:)

Congrats! I know how exciting it is to get that letter. Of course, i found i had gotten accepted over the phone! I had called to check the status and the lady put me on hold. When she came back on the line she just matter of factly said "Yes, it is complete and sitting in the acceptance pile." My heart dropped and so I asked her to repeat what she said. She laughed and said, "Congratulations! Welcome to the accelerated BSN program!" When i finally got the letter it really sunk in!

Best moment ever!:p

Congrats again and good luck!!:balloons: :Melody:
