I got accepted!

I am glad to say that I have been accepted into the BSN program. I had applied for the 16month accelerated program, but that one was full, so I requested to apply for the traditional program. I applied the first week in January and just got my acceptance today. I was accepted into the school and the program of nursing, I start the nursing courses in the Spring, but I can finish some of the prerequisites this fall.

I had applied to a diploma nursing school and i still haven't heard anything. I really wanted to start the program this fall, but as long as I am in it shouldn't matter. I do feel nervous now. I have heard stories and read the forums of ADN vs BSN. I have heard with the ADN you get more clinical training. The ADN program only has 8 classes whereas the BSN has 14 classes. I don't have to repeat my science courses at the BSN. They don't care that they are over 10 years old. The ADN is 2 years vs 3 for the BSN. I won't get much aid for the ADN since they are affliated with the community college. I have too many credits to get aid at the community college. The BSN program is a private school so I am sure I will get more aid. I want to quit my job and work as a STNA on the weekends or on the days I don't have class. I can't wait to leave this job eventhough I will be taking a big pay cut, but I had hoped the aid I get would help cover some of my living expenses such as my mortgage and car note.

I am not sure what I want to do now. I thought I knew, but now I feel nervous.

congrats! i know how exciting it is to get that letter. of course, i found i had gotten accepted over the phone! i had called to check the status and the lady put me on hold. when she came back on the line she just matter of factly said "yes, it is complete and sitting in the acceptance pile." my heart dropped and so i asked her to repeat what she said. she laughed and said, "congratulations! welcome to the accelerated bsn program!" when i finally got the letter it really sunk in!

best moment ever!:p

congrats again and good luck!!:balloons: :melody:

hey, kailuarn2b,i found out the exact same way. it wasn't until i received my acceptance letter that it really sunk in that i've been accepted. even checked online and it said accepted.

i'll start the program (bsn) in the fall, but i was told that if i wanted there are a couple of nursing courses that i could take in the summer. i'll probably just take one - pathophysiology and try to keep up my gpa, then take any more classes.

congratulations to all those that have heard and good luck to those waiting!

Congratulations!

I'm in a BSN program - got more aid here, and figured since I already had all the pre-reqs that I may as well go on and get my BS now rather than later (I'm interested in grad school). I think we probably have to do alot a bit more "busywork" than I see the ADN students at my school doing - lots of leadership/management philosophy, research, paper writing. While I see the value in it, it gets frustrating at times! :)

Definately compare the two programs to decide - clinical hours, ratios, pass rates, costs, etc.

Good luck! :)
