I called the book store at school today...10 required books for the three nursing classes I am taking...and others are recommended. As it gets closer I am freaking out. What if I can't do it?

You can do it!!! Will take awhile to get into the swing of things. I remember being so scared when I started school 3 years ago (at age 50!!!) thinking the same thing but everything will settle into a routine for you.
chin up!!! Positive thoughts.

Hello
Don't let 10+ books scare you. When I started 3 semesters ago, I have to buy 13+ books for the first semester and 6 required text for fundamental (you can imagine the $$$ I have to pay). It turns out that most of the books are use for reference and only 1 major text for the class. So don't worry, everything will be fine once you get the hang of things - I promise!
Wish you the best of luck!

Same here. There are a lot of books, but most are for reference.

Don't sweat it until you get started. Just jump in feet first! Once you get a handle on time management and studying, you'll be fine!:wink2:

Plus you will use most of the books for your other classes (the reference ones, med surg, etc).
Dont think about the future-take it one day at a time and dont get overwhelmed!

ALL nursing students have felt this way, and it's completely normal! It will seem very overwhelming in the beginning, but it DOES get easier with each passing day, week, month, semester....
Enjoy every minute of starting out in this fabulous career!

You will be just fine. I just started the program this (summer) semester and I thought I would die when I got done at the bookstore. I have so many books that when I put them in my car passenger seat, they are so heavy the seatbelt sensor thinks there is a person sitting there - LOL! You don't use all the books at the same time and, to be honest, I have only used one book so far - I think many of them are going to be used throughout the program. Don't worry, it is normally to panic and also normal to get pretty close to backing out before the classes begin. It is scary because it is the beginning of a new life for you, just hang in there, you can do it! :)
