# 100% dosage calculations?

1. I was sitting here looking at my dosage calculations book(& wondering why I decided to go to nursing school) &I started thinking. My school requires a 100% on your dosage calculation test and allows you to take 1 retake test.

I understand why they require this but I was just wondering if most schools do this

3. we have to get a 90% first semester, 95% the next few semesters and then 100%. i hate math!!!!
4. Yes this is commonly required at all schools, 90% -100%

I can't speak for most, but mine does. We don't get 100, we don't graduate. But we have three tries to make that 100.
6. Yes, it's common. My school requires a 92% or above in three chances or less. If it makes you feel any better, we didn't lose anyone in our class to the math exams!
7. My school also requires a 100%. We get 2 retakes. If we fail the last retake, we are kicked out of the program. How's that for pressure!!

We also get kicked out of the program & people wonder why I am looking at dosage calculation durning my break!
9. Same at my school, however it was hardly talked about, no one made a big deal about it, and we havn't had to do one since second year.
10. Here in Australia, 100% but we did have several goes at it
11. My school requires 79% with one retakes. Even with the 79, about 8 people got kicked out last semester.

Thats kind of scary.

For my LPN program we had to pass with 90% every semester and for the program I'm hoping to enroll for the bridge program its 100%. I try to do all the problems twice that way if I make any sloppy mistakes I can catch them the second time around or if I get the same answers I know I'm in good shape. Good luck to everyone working on them over the holidays. Jules
13. 90% here, we get two tries.
14. I feel better.. at least I'm in good company- our first semester we had to have an 85% to pass, every following semester, we have to have a 100%, which sounds very unlikely to someone who still is scared of long division. We do have three more chances to re-take, and we didn't lose anyone last semester- although there were a few who were still taking that fourth test. According to my calendar, we go back the 22nd, and the first math test is the 24th. Guess I know how I'm going to be spending the rest of the break!
