What do you do on the drive to work?

So I drive 200 miles to work one way. For me that's 3.5 hours that I feel I should be productive with.

My solution: learning Spanish with CD's that I put in my car.

However there's only so much Spanish I can try and learn at one point before I need a break. :p

Anyone have any suggestions?

For those that drive a distance, what do you do during your drive?

Destroy my eardrums with music most of you would hate to hear 10 seconds of.

Well my drive to the office takes about 5 minutes as it is only a mile or so from my house BUT it takes me about 20 min each way to take my son to daycare. During that time I talk to him, drink my coffee and listen to the morning show on the radio. Some days I will call my mom and talk to her on my cars bluetooth.

I pray, clear my mind.....hope everyone shows up to work so we can have a good night. Listen to the radio. Think about things I wanna do when my next off day comes.

What kind of music do you like? Artists?

I like the screaming stuff when I am working out - it gets me pumped up.

I used to think about driving home.

Well I was raised on classical that led to techno very fast and that led to Dubstep. I know most people HATE it. Favorite is people like Bassnectar, Skrillex, Rusko, Flux Pavillion. You have to have good speakers/system to get all the parts though. I literally feel my insides rattle when it's playing.

I have a bluetooth headset for my cellphone and I talk to my Mom on my 30 mile drive one way to work 4 days a week. It's mostly highway miles, on a pretty straight highway. Been doin it for over 10 yrs now.

My drive right now is only about 10 mins, so not much, soon it will be about an hour so I may start borrowing audio books from the library lol

Oh, I am old. I've never heard of any of the stuff you mentioned.

But I'm not so old I don't appreciate the rattling, ear-stripping aspect.............

it's why I have some nerve-damage deafness.......I used to find that the louder the music

the more it calmed me. I used to need alot of calming:D

i learned a tremendous amount about interviewing people from terri gross on npr's fresh air. when you think about it, we need to get people to tell us things all the time. i recommend getting the podcasts (free) to broadcast to your car radio if she isn't on when you're driving
