What Baffles You?

So I have come across this a few times. I am holding a straw to a persons lips and they drink and drink and drink and pretty soon they are waving their hands for me to stop. Stop what?! You don't have to keep sucking on the straw just because it is in your mouth. I think the universal sign of I'm done please remove the straw should be to stop sucking on it and open your mouth! I have had a few people have to catch their breath and make comments about me giving them too much! What? I don't get it.

Oh yes I forgot. What doesn't Medicare pay for flu shots? Shot down at pharmacy totally armed with Parts A, B and BlueCross, Blue Shield! Why don't they not pay for 99 year olds to die in tertiary medical center? No sweat off me because I could afford the $31 but what are others going to do?[/quote']

I'm pretty sure it does. It could be that pharmacy doesn't bill insurance for vaccines or they didn't know what they were doing.

The elderly, nonverbal, bed-ridden, s/p CVA, flaccid, tube fed, beginning contractions patient who is a DNR......having a lap chole in the morning after ERCP removed the four stones that were causing trouble.

Is this stupidity 101 or what?!

A colleague of mine and I haven been trying to find the Booth out in front of the hospital that "sucks all self motivation" out of people before they enter the hospital. Like; who is in charge at the booth that tells patients, " when someone needs to check your blood pressure you no longer have to lift your own arm, we can do all that for you, please don't assist in your own care...""" Ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about this one????? The Elderly Patient in in a room, the Family that "takes care of patient at home...uhumm...." are all over the room, like 6 of them. It's impossible to maneuver the room to provide care, tend to IV, etc.....this loving Family then has to "call a Nurse" because the patient has to pee, or isn't comfortable...I want to ask "just what in the "H" DO YOU lazy dogs do for this family member when you aren't here IN THE WAY??"

ha- saw this in another thread:

Pt has 25 allergies- needs 3 bands just too list them all. Had one recently- allergy to morphine, percocet, vicodin, etc, but dilaudid ok. Also beta blockers(?) , pretty much all cardiac meds- hope they never have an MI.

Of course, none of the rxns are anaphylactic

Do you mean obese or overweight when you say "of size"?

If so that's a rather rude statement to imply that because they are they should be able to live off the fat they have for a certain amount of time.
