Curious at what the average age is that people are in nursing school?
I am doing my pre reqs now and will be 28 when I start!

"Nursing school has in fact been an experience that has taught me alot about myself as well as others. I would do it all over again in a heart beet in spite of the high level of difficulty involved. Patient care is very rewarding."
Thank you, that was an inspiring comment.

I was 23 years old and hadn't been to any type of school in over 3 years. Instead, I was working 12 hour shifts at a noisy factory during those 3 years.
I completed LVN school at age 24 and very recently completed my first semester of RN prerequisite classes. Even though I have reached the nontraditional age of 25, I feel like I can mentally do anything if I put my mind and heart fully toward it.

I started actual nursing school at age 34. Will be an LPN May 07 at age 35 and an RN May 08 at age 36.
However I started the pre-reqs two years before entering the nursing program.

Started diploma RN program this year at 54. Will be almost 57 when I finish. Hopefully finish the BSN by 59 or 60 if they accept a lot from my previous science degrees.

I'm glad I'm not the only oldster only the oldest lol. I have finished my pre reqs and starting Fundamentals for ADN in Jan. I am 55 and I would love to hear advice from other older students. I must admit I am a bit nervous about the age thing.Margaret

Hey Margaret,
Some of the people who did the best in my class were the mature students! I don't think any of them did poorly, actually...they were all very focused. We looked up to them, too.
