Yes, very tragic accident I felt sick when I heard about it. Somebody screwed up big time somewhere. A deep investigation must be done.

That's terrible. It's so senseless. "Oops, didn't meant to drop a bomb on you" is not what we expect of our military, but I guess it happens.

My thought and prayers are with the americans that did this unfortunate accident and of course my prayers are with the Canadians that were injured. This is a horrible accident...and my hope is that this does not turn out to be a "us against them" incident. I hope that nothing more becomes of this...other then an investigation. Take care all! :)

Horrible, just as tragic as when we bomb our own in friendly fire. You would think in this age of technology we would be able to distinguish between friend and foe and these tragic mistakes would be avoided. Prayers to the Canadians and also to those who have to live with this horrible mistake.

Quite tragic indeed, my partner who is in the navy knew a few people in that particular infantry, but no names have been released yet. I pray for the families and friends of those soldiers....from what I read, he had no permission to drop the bomb, only fly over?

The report that I heard stated that US thought they were being fired at so they fired back.
It's very sad indeed.

terrible situation, horrific and tragic
once again I am proud of my country in how we are handling the situation, the tone I'm getting is very "blameless" , stating it was accidental and although there will be investigations on both sides of things that we are still dedicated to the cause of ending terrorism.
I hope something beyond an investigation happens
I dont want to sit here and lay blame
I'm sure the person that made this mistake feels bad enough already, I just hope that some new standards or practices are initiated so that this NEVER happens again.
the men that passed away were all in their 20's I believe, just starting out their lives, it is incredibly sad, but their families should be so proud of the service they have offered for not only Canada but the world.

I too feel that this is a tragic thing, but we must all remember that we are, as is our wonderful neighbors to our north, involved in a war.
As with all engagements of war, men and women will be killed. Sad to say, but some are killed by our own hand.
As a former military member, I can tell you that there will be an indepth investigation. These pilots will be 'grilled' until they can't see straight. They were given a 'call back' order, but as mkue stated, they had reason to believe they were being fired upon and reacted.
To all our Canadian nurses here, let us not use this as a 'propeling platform' in which to lay blame......that goes for us 'mericans' too:D
Let's all just pray together that this 'war' will end soon enough and ALL our men and women can come home!!!!
God Bless our efforts!

SO many questions, few answers. The four men that where killed, how can you make sense of it? First time in fifty years that Canadians have been killed in the line of duty.
The American pilot.....well ...ground fire can not reach normal flying altitudes, so how knows why he would have felt threatned? And why did the Americans not know the Canadians where in that well defined area, on practice manovers....... my heart goes out to the families who now have to make sense of a senseless act....... I also heard this morning that of the seven injuried, two are still in critical condition and one of the men will loose his eye due to injuries..........
