JMP.....ground fire CAN reach aircraft. As I stated, there will be an indepth investigation. We are in a war.....people, unfortunately, get killed, injured, maimed. Sad????? You darn right. But it is a result of war.
The fact that it has been 50 years since you've experienced war casulities???? Wow! I think that is sensational and I would love to say that for American soldiers!
I spent many years in the Army...many more as an Officer's wife. When you join, it is an understanding that you take a great risk EACH AND EVERY DAY. Each day you leave home or barracks, you know that you might not come back. It's a risk you take for our great countries!!!!
Practice manuvers move around and in such hostile surroundings, such as Afganistan, it can be difficult to pinpoint certian areas, even with our technology. We also have crazies there that will try everything they can to destroy us and our alies. They can send false information. We must realize this.....these people are NUTS! They are DANGEROUS! They are the ENEMY!!
My prayers and thoughts remain with the Canadians and their families...as well as the American pilots.....can you imagine how YOU would feel if YOU mistakenly fired on your friends????

First time in fifty years that Canadians have been killed in the line of duty.
That pilot should have been able to see those red jackets that they always wear.
What a stupid war this is!!

Yet again I will repeat that the Canadian people and military are handling this wonderfully....
grace under fire so to speak I'd say
no one has mentioned the term blame
no one is putting down the americans
and we still support the work that everyone is doing in afghanistan
but the fact remains it was a horrible tradgedy and although not intentional, needs to be investigated so we can minimize the number of times these things happen
no one is using this board as a propeling platform for anything
but we are grieving and trying to make sense of something that is senseless......

I don't think anyone will seek any blame unless the investigation reveals serious negligence on anyone's part (be they Canadian or American). If there was any serious negligence I would hope that those people would have to take responsibility. Our armed forces are called upon to risk their lives every day, but that doesn't mean it should just be chalked up as an accident and ignored if someone was grossly at fault. Personally, I don't think it will ever come to that.
JMP, according to our paper these deaths brought the total of Canadians killed while serving overseas since 1950 to 115. I don't know where the idea that they are the first to be killed in 50 years comes from.

You truly are. I'm amazed at your positive acceptance. I wish I could be more like you. What's the secret?

The fact is these are the FIRST Canadians killed in the active combat- in FIFTY years. I should clarified this in my first post.
prn nurse, why thankya for your kind words!
really there is no secret to explain my behaviour, insanity perhaps? hehehehe
but really I get down just like everyone else does ,this event inparticular has me quite saddened
but I dont believe in laying blame for an accident, we know it wasnt intentional, the person who did this must be so guilt ridden already why make them feel worse by having random strangers world wide blame him?
people do tend to think I'm a happy sould though....
which I am, I love my life for the most part
but even i get grumpy and angry, and when I do ..ohhhhh boy watch out world
the wrath of wendy can be intense!
cheers :)
