NP discusses MJ on national TV ????

IMHO, I would think you could not do that it would be against every rule that governs the medical field...

I just watched CNN and a nurse practioner(she gave her name) was on the phone giving information about Michael Jackson and what he discussed with her and what medication he was given (not by her) for his insomnia. She also talked about when she treated his kids for a cold and what she gave them. Is this legal?? What happened to patient confidentiality?? Can you just go on national TV and discuss a patient because he is dead????

As we all know, HIPAA applies after death as well except for certain circumstances (the right passes to the estate). It certainly sounds like this information should not have been disclosed to the media. But who knows? Maybe she had MJ's or MJ's estate's permission to disclose. (I doubt it, but you never know.)

I agree, where is the confidentiality? It sounds like the NP violated that.

Definitely seems like a HIPPA violation to me, but she shouldve known better, with this being so high profile and all. Im hoping she had permission to disclose this information, but pretty sure she didnt. This is sad in so many ways.

She's been all over CNN tonight. I think she's trying to strike while the iron's hot and grap her 15 minutes of fame plus any monetary goodies that might come with it. I can't believe anyone would hire her as a nurse now that she publicly disclosed (or made up) all that personal information about her patient.

i just read this story on CNN and came here to ask yall "do you believe this woman?".

something doesnt sound right to me. begging for diprivan? thats only admin in OR and ICU, right? something about this made my hinky meter go sky high.
