Today it is cooler than yesterday - only 115 degrees! Yesterday was 118! Get out the thermal blankets and heating pads - thats a massive cool down. Anyhoo, with these extreme temps, We have been getting more patients admitted for heat related illness including dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and severe sunburns. We also had a patient admitted involved in a MVA but landed on the pavement and developed 2nd and 3erd degree pavement burns. And as if that is not bad enough, Out air conditioning at work broke down and we suffered with no AC for 7 hours. Of course we could not use fans in the nurses station because "It circulates microbes".
