Today it is cooler than yesterday - only 115 degrees! Yesterday was 118! Get out the thermal blankets and heating pads - thats a massive cool down. Anyhoo, with these extreme temps, We have been getting more patients admitted for heat related illness including dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and severe sunburns. We also had a patient admitted involved in a MVA but landed on the pavement and developed 2nd and 3erd degree pavement burns. And as if that is not bad enough, Out air conditioning at work broke down and we suffered with no AC for 7 hours. Of course we could not use fans in the nurses station because "It circulates microbes".

What part? It was extremely hot today. I'm near Oakland/Hayward

Ah, you are in Central CA. :D;) (My daughter is visiting in Oakley - but was in SF at Pier 39 and all that lovely tourist stuff tonight).

I am up by Mt. Shasta/Mt. Lassen. Almost to Oregon. The real Northern CA. :D

There are at least 62 lightening caused fires burning in my county right now. The storm has passed and it is hot and humid at 11:30 p.m.

I'm in SW Ohio and the temperature itself isn't that bad - low 80's. BUT our humidity is also in the 80's. That makes it unbearable! We can't breathe outside and whenever I step out my door I immediately am covered in a layer of sweat. Makes me wonder why I even showered ;)

BUT... give me about 6 or 8 months and I'll be complaining about the below zero temperatures with the mountains of snow on the ground! :chuckle:

It's been hovering around 100 or so all this week here in Central Texas. I'm so tired of it. If my family was not here, I would move to Colorado!

It's 91 degrees right now-and it's 9am. Another hot day for us as well.

I just can't stand this heat.. I'd rather it be 10 degrees outside than having it 100 outside.

I agree with you whole heartedly!!! I really don't like summer, give me winter anyday. But, I can deal with my weather here today 71 degrees no humidity with a light breeze. If this is how summer always was I wouldn't mind it.:onbch:

At 115 degrees there is no way I'd step foot out the door, anything over 80 with any hint of humidity and i'm miserable and crabby (so my family is miserable too)

Well today is MUCH better. It's sunny outside with a breeze.

We are probably in the 70s today, with thunderstorms and a bit of hail. I picked up the latest church directory and asked the Sunday School class why there were not any winter addresses in Maine or Minnesota. I did not see any winter addresses for Chardon, Ohio, either, which averages 101 inches of snow a year (shudder). We average 33 inches a year, which is about 33 inches too much.

I am fond of saying that as long as it is too warm to snow, the weather is fine!

One of my coworkers listens to the Oasis radio network. They give the weather for areas where they have stations, including Oklahoma, Virginia, the Ozarks, Palm Springs, and Canton, Ohio. In the winter, we generally have the worst weather (coldest), while in the summer, we have the best weather (coolest). When they give the weather for Palm Springs in the summer, I always add that it is a dry heat, like sticking your head in the oven.

It's 105 right now (5pm)and completely cloudy. Dark, think clouds. Dew point is only 37 right now (bummer) but it was 52 at lunch time. It's getting so close to monsoons!!!
