Today it is cooler than yesterday - only 115 degrees! Yesterday was 118! Get out the thermal blankets and heating pads - thats a massive cool down. Anyhoo, with these extreme temps, We have been getting more patients admitted for heat related illness including dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and severe sunburns. We also had a patient admitted involved in a MVA but landed on the pavement and developed 2nd and 3erd degree pavement burns. And as if that is not bad enough, Out air conditioning at work broke down and we suffered with no AC for 7 hours. Of course we could not use fans in the nurses station because "It circulates microbes".

I love 115 degree weather (as long as it is not humid!). Where I live, it is usually 110 - 120 everyday for 2 to 3 months during the summer. I absolutely LOVE it! :)

Love the person who says you can work and the patients can survive in the high temperatures , within your facility , but you can't use fans.

Mention to this person there are laws related to work conditions ( check on the net for laws specific to your area )and the conditions in which the patients have to be cared for .Maybe that will provide an incentive to try to accelerate repairs.

Yeah, I'm not a happy camper either! I'm working as a nanny for a 14-month old while finishing my prerequisites. This past week, I haven't been able to take her outside for more than five minutes because it's been so hot! And I haven't even been able to take her to the pool because she's had a cold all week...... so I have to keep the poor baby and the family's very energetic Golden Retriever inside almost the whole day because it's so obscenely hot!!!

I can't believe you didn't have air conditioning though....that's awful!!!

With the humidity here in Florida our "feels like" temp is usually in the 100's and I can't imagine not having air conditioning. Strangely though we've had rain and clouds all day and it's a muggy 77 degrees....four 4:00pm in June, that's practically freezing.

Stay safe.

I just can't stand this heat.. I'd rather it be 10 degrees outside than having it 100 outside.

my brother goes to washington state for the summer months,he does volunteer work for the park service and his wife works for olm they return in the fall...

if you have never spent a summer in Lousiana you are lucky

I went to visit my friend in texas last july and OMG!!!!! It was so humid. First off, the heat was so bad that it made the plane turbulence bad. Then the minute I step out of the airport my lungs have to adjust to the humidity. I thought I was gonna have an bronchospasm or something

I'm on the Central Coast of CA.... and lordy, it was 112 yesterday. I've never seen weather this hot. We kept all the residents inside yesterday.

Presently, I'm eating a popsicle and wondering when all my clothes became BLACK!
