I had a rough day at work today. There was a patient that started to go bad on me and I ended up calling a rapid response on her and sending her to ICU at another hospital. I found myself wishing I could literally predict the future, particularly my patients' futures, so I can stop things like this from happening.
Here's my totally off-the-wall discussion topic: If you could have one super power, one that you could only use while you're at work, which would it be and why? Just curious. Thanks!
I would magically be able to lift, turn, and move pts from one place to another; holding them up in the air so we can get the clothes off, change the sheets, inspect the spine, move onto the CT scanner, etc. And put them back down gently, of course!
YES! This one for sure!
Or to be able to think my charting into the computer. I think I would like that one even better.
I would like a cloak of invisibility so no one can come up to me with an empty water pitcher, see me not answering the phone, ask me how to get to the cafeteria, or complain about something I forgot to do when I am frantically trying to get my charting done.
THIS! I try to chart but then people give me the stink-eye for ignoring dinging call lights (I could be chasing them all night), and then a random family member comes out of the room and tells me grandpa has to go to the bathroom, and then a visitor asks me about a parking voucher ...
In the mean time just hide in the medroom or stand in a corner with the COW
