    Does where you live really make that big of an inpact of your wages??? My cousin is a new grad and makes $42 and hour at Hoag Hospital!!! Im in my first year of nursing school and most people I have talked to make well over $30 an hour. ( Im in California)

    5. how much do you make a year? i earned around $43k last year part-time, days only, no shift diff, no weekends, no holidays.
    6. what do you like about your job? i like my chosen specialty. i get to be creative, solve problems, help patients as well as other disciplines.
    7. what don't you like about your job? i have been losing much of my autonomy and management rarely includes my department in decision making processes that affect our practice. most anything that changes is dictated to the department and we are not a part of any true collaboration. there is rarely a formal plan- just an announcement about a change, regardless if we have addressed other issues that must be altered to accomodate the change. if we have a real concern, it is dismissed and there is never any true resolution to the concern. i will not be staying for much longer but that is the great thing about nursing- it is not difficult to move on to other opportunities.
