Guess the mispronounced medical term

Nurses General Nursing

Published

After a recent EMS run where I was momentarily stumped by a patient's condition, I thought it might be fun to see if it stumps anyone else.

The term: Sack-a-docious

Hint: Patient's chief complaint is, "My lungs be painin' me because of my sack-a-docious."

Anyone?

It doesn't really sound the same but sarcoidosis?

My husband has been having knee pain and went to the doc... came home telling me the doc said he had CRAPITITIS in his knee... I've been giggling all week with him over that one... aka crepitus!

Okay... two responses within four minutes. Either we're a huge site with Mensa-level thinkers - or, that wasn't as hard as I thought!

OK, here's one. We had a foreign nursing student (bless her heart) who spoke to one of our patients. As soon as she left, the patient asked me " Nurse what is she talking about operating because I have "noodles" in my neck?". I tried hard not to laugh, the man was due to have his thyroid "nodules" removed.

Just the other day I had a patient tell me that their doctor was going to insult a lung doctor. (She meant consult... I have no idea how I didn't start laughing in the room)
