Ever had a premonition?

1) I had a patient pass away on Thursday, and his wife called five minutes after he stopped breathing, because she had a bad feeling.

2) I had a dream this morning that my father's best friend had died, and found out later this afternoon that he had in fact died this morning.

Has anyone else had a premonition like this, or heard of someone else who did? Exactly how common is it?

I did have premonitions at about 4-5 weeks of pregnancy when I was pregnant all 4 times. I knew which pregnancies were going to be okay very early on and which one wasn't. I also knew they were all girls. (I have no gender confirmation on the miscarriage, though.)

My husband's premonition was scarier. He took a nap and had a dream that his wife at the time died. She very unexpectedly died that evening. She was in her early 40s.

Yep, I've had them-at work and at home.

When my mom's best friend was in the hospital with terminal cancer, I drove home to be with my friend. After her mom had been in a coma for a few days, I went over to my mom's house to get a few hours of sleep, and I dreamed that I was sitting on the edge of the bathtub in my best friend's childhood home, watching her mom fix her hair and makeup, as we had done a zillion times in childhood. We were chatting in this dream, and then her mom looked at me and said 'Well, I guess I'm ready to go.' At THAT moment, my mom woke me up and handed me the phone and said 'It's Donna; Linda's just died.'

I think everyone has them... Maybe it is God talking to us?

My latest was about an airplane crash that didn't happen...Before that, out of nowhere, I had a very strong feeling that our cat Zuma might accidentally be in the dryer and noone would know. We have 3 kids and I spent probably a good 5-7 minutes explaining that if they started the dryer, they must check to ensure that Zuma was not in it. They all nodded their heads and they kept checking the dryer constantly to ensure that the cat wasn't in it. About 2-3 hours later, a friend's daughter came over to take a shower and threw her wet clothes from home, into our dryer. And yes, as you've probably guessed, the cat was in the dryer........

It was so strange-I worked SO hard to make sure nothing happened to Zuma, but he was still "dried." He lived through it, as my daughter heard a really loud thumping and ran to investigate the noise. We pulled him out and cooled him off!

There's more, but it's late, I'm tired....And I have this strange premonition that if I don't get enough sleep, I'm going to b REALLY cranky in the morning!!! heh:chuckle

I have also had a few in my life.... I chose to believe that we all have that ability all of the time- our minds just show us that ability sometimes. Kinda eerie.... yet not exactly scary.

On a lighter note, I've called the outcome of national football championship games a couple of times. I don't follow football but I just had a random gut feeling.

What would be the purpose of God enacting these premonitions?

There are a number of philosophical and religious thoughts regarding this sort of thing. It blows my mind. And of course, there are scientific theories. Kinda cool how science and philosophy coincides.

Yup...had premonitions about my grandfather & my dad dying. I knew they were both dead before I got the news.

Thats what Edgar Cayce believed along with many others before him with similar talents.

He has such a strong psychic energy that when I see his picture, I feel as though he is in my presence somehow. Ok, not really. http://images.allnurses.com/smilies/laugh.gif
