Doctors versus Guns

My aunt sent me this, and I thought it was funny.

Guns don't kill people, doctors kill people....wait, is that how that goes?

As an NRA member and competitive pistol shooter, I'd like to point out that if you talk with responsible gun owners, you'll find that there is no such thing as an 'accidental' shooting. We call it a 'negligent discharge' or 'negligent shooting'. Guns go off for one reason--someone pulls the trigger. Contrary to popular belief, making a gun fire by dropping it is almost impossible.

Children die due to negligent shootings because their parents or family members are too stupid or too arrogant to properly lock up their weapons, in a gun safe. Hiding the gun is not enough. Trigger locks are not enough. Kids will always find hidden goodies, and any trigger lock can be defeated given enough time and determination. It's easier to blame the gun than it is to blame poor parenting when a child dies in a gun 'accident'.

Guns kill people... that is what they are for.

Guns kill animals....that is what they are for.

Guns are used in crime.....threats.....to defend property (with the threat to kill or do serious harm) ....... . that is what they are for.

That however, is my opinion. I work in a setting where, on occasion I see gunshot wounds, which is not too often, considering where I live, but I do see them. It is a nasty thing to see.

Please, OH PLEASE, do not drag out that old argument about knives, cars and rope and how they can be used to kill people too! PLEASE, give us more credit than that. I beg you!

Doctors are people, who make mistakes, but as far as I know, doctors where not DESIGNED or CREATED to kill.

Guns are designed to do the things I mentioned, in my opinion.

The fact yours have not DONE those things, does not mean they won't. I was only pointing out design..... not necessarily intention.

I have noted in the past, this type of discussion tends to make some people nervous and anxious.

If you wish to start a debate on the things mentioned, why not start a new thread?
