Celebrity patients anyone?

Nurses General Nursing

Has anyone given any care to a celebrity? You don't have to give names.:D

Specializes in Clinical Risk Management.

When I was in Nashville, there were the Grand Ole Opry royalty...a few minor country singers...one or two major ones.

Does it count that I babysat the children of a recording artist back in the 80's? How about making pizzas for other country legends?

Ah, my former life in Nashville...I don't miss much of it at all, especially not the traffic! :D

My claim to fame .I work in london England as an agency nurse i have looked after 2 girls from spice Girls , Mr Elton John and a few not so popular Royalties.i think you should mention names otherwise it is no fun.

I disagree that any names should be used. Celebritys have enough trouble let alone, us telling all their medical secrets. I expect that you would expect a little privacy if YOU were hospitalized or cared for at your place of employment and had an expectation that people would not be nosing through your medical chart.

Besides here in the US, we have a little nasty thing called HIPPA...

Specializes in LTC, Alzheimers, hospice.

She wasn't my patient because I was a patient myself in a New York hosp. but a certain female celebrity gave the nurses hell that they actually cheered when she was discharged. One of her most famous quote "only little people pay taxes".

Nitwit ideas are for emergencies. You use them when you've got nothing else to try. If they work, they go in the Book. Otherwise you follow the Book, which is largely a collection of nitwit ideas that worked.

I have met Larry Niven several times. He lives here and attends events for readers and JPL/NASA events.

His wife, Marilyn is very cute. She once told about Larry hiding and jumping from behind a chair as he played with the cat.

I told him that in "Destiny's Road" humans would not survive a planet with no potassium. (In the book it lowers IQ). He told me he had received many letters telling him that. One was from Idaho informing him that potatos cannot grow without K+.

He's very charming and polite to all. Never took care of him though. Did have him tell me about being in the hospital.

This seems confusing. It is simply a cyber combo of two replies with quotes. I jus mentioned that here in LA nurses are often accosted by the press when a famous person is in the hospital. .

Wow. Good to know! Most writers are pretty nice people, in my experience. Have met quite a few in person, also hang out at several writer's chatrooms/message boards.

I agree Moonshadeau. And it really doesn't matter if my patient is a celeb or not -- I never disclose names or patient information nor do most of my co-workers. That code of ethics was developed long before HIPPA.

yup, violations of privacy can backfire & leave the nurse homeless!!!

moonshadeau.

Names were mentioned .not diagnosis thank God i am not in your country. where everything warrants a day in court.Americans you are so sue happy.

It's not a matter of suing or legal issues Oge, it's an ethical responsibility to keep your patients' names confidential.

I would try to restore it to what it originally was, but I'm afraid I'd just mess it up worse than I did already! :imbar
