Best shoes?

  1. Anyone have any opinions on the best/most comfortable shoes to wear while working on the floor? My New Balance walking shoes just aren't cutting it. I love my Birkenstock sandals, but don't know about their "professional" line of shoes. Anyone tried them before??

I love Dansko's......... I have had the same pair for almost two years... I do rotate though b/n those and sneakers or another pair of scrubs clogs.... But regardless, I wear the Dansko's the most and they are GREAT.......

I've bought a TON of shoes, trying to find the right shoe for my feet....New Balance, Nike, Adidas, birkenstock, etc.... and so on.....

When I bought the Sketchers that I've been wearing recently, I just thought they were cute and I'd wear them with jeans/sweats, etc..... but, they turned out to be uber comfy....

I honestly think it just depends from person to person....... since everyone seems to have different arches, widths, etc..... it's just going to vary so much on what's comfy for any given person....

My way of finding the right shoe was probably expensive.... BUT, I have a lot of tennis shoes now! hehe

I used to work for a podiatrist and he always recommended New Balance, Saucony (sp?), and Ryka...most of the patients prefered New Balance (i know i do)...i try to stay away from Nike, and Adidas, since they are made very narrow...but like someone else said, i think it just depends on the person...i have a high arch so i HAVE to have the support. Also if you haven't tried, i tend to wear MENS new balance rather than the women's, they just feel better to me! so if you haven't worn men's shoes before try it out...usually it's 1-2 sizes smaller than the # you would get in womens...like me i were 9-10 womens so i buy 7-8 in men's.

I recently so a news story here in Atlanta on a shoe called Z-Coils that have gotten rave reviews. The kicker is that they absorb much of the shock that people that stay of their feet experience.

The story followed several individuals that had been experiencing severe back pain to the point of needing surgery. However, after wearing these shoes their pain seem to dissipate.

I am not an RN yet however when I saw the story I made a point to tuck that name away for when I know I will need my own pair of Z-Coils.

By the way they run about $130.

    Good luck!

I have a pair of Danskos that are very comfortable. Recently I bought these:

and they are great, too. I spruced them up a bit with Dr. Scholl's Advantage arch inserts, and my feet really feel good. I have narrow feet and a high arch, so I need lots of support.

i have to agree, dansko's are the most comfortable shoe. I broke my ankle 5 years ago in a horsebackriding accident and it's the only shoe strong enough to support my ankle. They are heavy at times and rather expensive around 100.00/pair

I love my Danskos. My problem is whenever I wear sneakers my knees are ok but my back hurts and whenever I wear my clogs my back is fine but my knees hurt.
I am going to get a pair of Z-Coils tomorrow. I'll let you know how they are!

I just went to buy new shoes and I tried on the danskos for the first time. They felt very strange. I liked them just thought that it would take some time to get used. Then I tried on another similar clog called Modellista and they were great. They have a tempur foam lining in them (like the pillows) and they are so comfy! They mold to you foot imediately. I am going to try them out at work on monday I will let you know how they are. They look just like danskos and are about the same price just a little "squishier" in the insole.

Does anyone else have Modelista shoes? Do you like them? How well do they hold up?

I love my Dansko's, but they take some time getting used to. I have no back pain when I wear them, but sometimes my knees hurt.

Has anyone tried the inserts to support your arch with Dansko's? Or a cushion to take some of the shock? Just something I'm thinking about.

All this talk of shoes is going to make me go shopping -- must return to my mothership of shoes now.
