best i quit or fired story

Nurses Relations

Published

This isnt mine personally.

The administrator pulled the housekeeper in her office to let her go. Apparently when the boss told the housekeeper(slim female) she turned into the terminator and FLIPPED the 50inch(just estimating) desk on the boss. Chile i never seen such jerry springer like behavior on the job in my life.

Now THATS a way to go out with a bang.

any stories?

I worked with an RT years ago who was scary. Not only did he take it upon himself to write "verbal orders" for Lasix or packed cells or whatever else HE thought the patient needed, he was once caught (or so the story goes) medicating a patient with some narcotics he found at the bedside. (Used to be you'd check out 10 mg. of morphine and give 2 mg. or 4 mg. or whatever the order was and keep the syringe so you could give more later.) Word was he was going to be fired . . . .

On the news one day, there's a "Breaking News!" story about a shooter perched on a bridge overlooking the highway and threatening to take pot shots at anyone exiting the highway towards the hospital. A helicopter zoomed in to show a picture of the "unidentified man." You guessed it. Our RT. Legend has it that his boss called him into a meeting immediately before the event, but it doesn't say (and the boss won't confirm or deny) whether they RT was fired prior to the event. He never came to work again.

i vote this as #1 craziest thing i read on this thread so far:up:

The story above totally reminded me of this guy I worked with at a salon and spa. He was a massage therapist and I always got a creepy vibe from him. I just kept my distance. He left to start his own shop and a couple years later his face was all over the news for touching women inappropriately while giving massages!!!!

Eeewwwww!!!

I used to work as a host at Applebee's. A couple came in and told me they had just seen a young girl in a jeep back into someone in the parking lot and drove off. I grabbed my general manager, they told her, and it turned out it was her car.

It also turned out that the girl that hit it was a girl I'd just been working with. She was incompetent and had a sour attitude and the gm had just had enough and fired her, and she stormed out and apparently hit the car for good measure.

GM went to take a look and also found the girl's uniform that she'd apparently torn off in her fit of rage. Even her socks, which were not company issue, they simply needed to be black.

Girl had also been in my pre nursing classes but could never recognize me even after me introducing myself in both places several times. I questioned her sobriety.

I worked at a medical office and one of the front desk receptionists just wasn't "getting it." She was given a verbal warning once and still had no idea what she did wrong. After her and the office manager left for the day, I went into the managers office and found that she had written on a post it "Katie, I quit. -Tiffany" and put it on the managers desk. I called the manager and she had no idea. Didn't tell anyone. We framed the post it.

Several years ago my former DON was escorted out of the facility by federal surveyors after a particularly horrible annual survey: 47 citations, with eight of those having been immediate jeopardy tags. She actually called the facility three days later to see if she could have her job back.

At a different facility, a developmentally disabled CNA dropped a 63-pound demented resident, resulting in a humerus fracture and some of the nastiest skin tears I've ever seen. Immediately after the incident the CNA says "I quit," and stared at me.

I said, "Okay. Have a good rest of the day."

She responded, "I don't think you understand. I quit!"

I said, "Okay. Have a nice rest of the day." I wasn't in the mood to beg her to stay.

I was a CNA in a LTC facility years ago. This was my first CNA gig and I was fresh out of training so I still had my good aide skills and liked to do things by the book. Well, this didn't sit so well with my co-workers who liked to cut corners so they could go have their cigarette. The residents were treated awfully and verbally abused by the others CNAs. I once came out to the living area to see a resident on the floor and bleeding. I immediately rushed over to him. ALL the nurses were sitting on their fat butts eating donuts and chatting. They either "didn't see it" or were ignoring it. He was in plain sight of the nurses station! I'd come home crying so many nights because I felt so bad for the people. Management was no better. I would try to report things to the DON but we were so understaffed she didn't want to let go of anyone. :banghead: My DON was more concerned about her latest diet than she was the quality of living of the residents. I was so appalled that after 3 months I quit. When I left, I looked at the DON straight in the eye and said "I would NEVER bring anyone I loved to this facility." She actually teared up! I walked out to my car and made a call to the state to report what had been going on. Boy, let me tell you state was in there FAST and they were in some hot water there for awhile. :sneaky:

She is a drama queen and work seems to be the last thing on her "to do"list. Her needs and concerns trump everyone else's. If her teenage daughter has cramps she might not get out of bed to eat and drink and the consequences could be dire per mama. Her condition is as serious as that of a child with leukemia ,apparently. Is she were my daughter-A-her butt would go to school B-if she did stay home she would be in bed with a few water bottles and a fiber bar at her side. My son missed a handful of days-we taught him school was his "work" Fast forward-he never misses a day of work.

Some cramps can be debilitating, especially for teenagers and young women (or women with gyn disorders).

As a teen, there were a couple times I missed school due to cramps that were so severe, the legs buckled when trying to walk.

"Cramps" like those, well, they're not really cramps. Imagine someone pulling the entire contents of your lower abdomen out through the bottom of your feet with an ice ax while you puke from the other end. It's not pleasant.

When Ibuprofen came on the scene, it worked well enough that it saved many of us from opting for a premature hysterectomy in Mexico. :)

I had debilitating cramps ¼ to ⅓ of every month with heavy bleeding before my endometriosis was being treated. When I was young I thought everyone's cycle was like that and I was just a wimp. I had actually passed out in high school from them. To make matters worse, I can't take any NSAIDs. In short, I can totally see calling out for menstruation.
