2017 Nursing Salary Survey

As nurses, we know how valuable we are to the healthcare system as a whole. We also know that we are respected by the public. Nurses have consistently ranked in the top position of the Gallup poll with Americans rating nurses as having the highest honesty and ethical standards. How do our salaries compare with the overall respect and importance placed on our jobs? Nurses Announcements Archive Article

In January 2015, members of allnurses and the larger nursing community holding an active nursing license were invited to participate in the first allnurses online nursing salary survey. Nurses turned out in droves resulting in more than 18,800 participants. The results, displayed in several interactive images, provided invaluable information about current salaries across the U.S. and Canada, allowing nurses to see how their salaries stack up.

Now it is time for the 2017 allnurses Nursing Salary Survey and we hope you will participate. The more questions you answer, the more complete our data will be. This survey takes about 5 minutes or less to complete. We listened to your suggestions and added a few more questions to help provide even more insight into the question of "How much do nurses make?" We will also try to shed more light on last year's findings that males make more than females. Last year the number of ADN and BSN nurses were a virtual tie. Will that change this year? What states pay the highest salaries?

I really think you also should have a blank for total salary if you just worked full time and not just total compensation. If I only worked full time, with my base pay plus differentials I would have made $54k. As it is, I worked a ton of overtime and made over $80k.

Make sure when you graph the results that you do it based on base pay and then again based on total compensation, which is very misleading for people who don't want to kill themselves with overtime because they want a real life. I'd hate for someone to want to move to my state because they're eyeballing the $80k number.

There were some pay periods where I had almost 140 hours per two weeks...

The survey is still open. Did you try and were unable to complete it? You can try again if you use another IP address.

Adding float nurse to the choices next time might be helpful. My differential for floating is fairly significant I feel like. Otherwise, can't wait to see the results!

I did try, I went through all the questions and when I hit next it thanked me for completing the survey. That is when I realized I never actually got asked to enter my salary. I will try again later.

Make sure you answer all the "required" questions. Did you get past the first page? On the first page there is a question that may disqualify you from finishing the survey depending on your answer. This survey is for licensed nurses in the US and Canada. If your response to the first question "In what U.S. state, U.S. territory, or Canadian Province do you currently work?" was OTHER then you were disqualified as you do not live in the required geographical area.

The last question on the first page is How are you paid? The remaining questions are different depending on how you answer that question. There are 27 questions if you are paid hourly and 23 questions if you are paid salary. The last questions do ask for both your base salary (without bonuses, incentives) and your earnings as reported to the IRS (which includes all incentives, bonuses, etc
