Here is my most gross, yucky, disgusting nursing story!

I was working a night shift on a tele floor as a new Nurse.

We had this one poor old lady who was confused and was restrained as usual for her safety. She was our designated resident nightmare geri from hell, so she was placed near the Nurse's station.

So we are chilling out at the Nurse's station, chatting and trying to get through another night...

Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I see our lady in question standing in the dimly lit doorway of her room!

I instantly leap out and run to her. As I approach her, she appears to be falling towards me, so I meet her in a bear hug...my arms around her waste, and her arms around my shoulders.

As I catch the lady, I notice a very strong smell of feces, and I feel something warm on my hands, arms and shoulders...

My fellow heroes come in behind me, and as the lights are turned on, my worst fears are instantly realized.

Yes, I caught the poor old lady with a good old bear hung football catch, but I was also covered in the lady's feces.

As I look at her, she has feces smeared all over her arms and hands... (and even her face!)

And of course, now so did I!

When I worked in med-surg I was walking down the hall and I kept hearing this awful spuing sound. I kept walking till I found out where it was coming from. I walked in a pts. room and here lays this man about 80 y/o totally not with it. He had been restrained
and was laying there coughing up loogies and spitting them straight up in the air, of course they (the loogies) came back and splattered him in the face. I stood there for a minute and tried to figure out which direction I could run and hide
But as I stood there I was wondering my God how in the world am I gonna get this cleaned up? I will vomit just from the nasty sounds he was making. So heres my secret. I went to get wash cloths and cleaning stuff and when I came back two other nurses were there to clean him and since they were doing such a nice job a third person would had just been in the way right???
I snuck right outta there. Yep I couldnt handle it anyway. I was gone! Never told the rest of them my story=lol

I was a new CNA in the nursing home and feeling very proud of my first step in my chosen career.

A nice littel old man in a wheel chair waved at one of my co-workers (a pretty littel 18 year-old, fresh out of high school sugar and spice type of girl). He said "honey come over here please" as she bent down to talk to him. He moved the blanket covering his legs and SPLAT! he ejaculated right in her face and mouth. I never saw her again and thus my nursing career beagn...........

Yeah I was quite shocked myself. Being brand new I thought of old people as sweet and harmless. I guess I can be thankful I was shown the truth early. mabey thats why I work in OB too =}

Once I had an HIV pos street druggie to care for of in an ER holding room.

He was violent and was in four point restraints. He was cursing us, spitting and just plain not very pleasant.

So I gowned, double gloved and face mask and eye shielded myself all up and went in...

...as I entered the room, the good gentlemen hacked up a large boggy and then spit at me in an arc ...

...which reached just over my eye visors and landed smack dead centre on my unprotected head!

One of the most amazing shots I have ever seen!

Needless to say, it was just a little gross cleaning the good gentleman's wad of phlegm out of my hair!

Had a guy in the ER, mentally slow, with an infected stasis ulcer to the back of his calf x 1 month. Picture this, large round area of black escar surounded by a "canal" of non-existant and barely there flesh. The the decaying flesh had been gnawed away by non the less magotts which were still in residence in large numbers in his leg. The smell was so nasty!!!!! Stank up the whole ER! Then........it gets better. He decides he has to pee and can only do this standing up! Gets out of bed bleeding and dropping magotts everywhere! Then surgery decides to debride the nasty leg IN THE ROOM! EEWWWW!!! Discovered that lidocaine makes magotts "dance".
Needless to say not much appetite that shift!

I had a 80 + year old male patient, I put his foley catheter in, bathed him only to discover he ejaculated all over his clean covers!!!!!!!!! Lots of teasing after that, all the male nurses said if they ever come in they wanted me to put the foley in and bathe them. YUCK

Oh My Gawd! I just about threw up just reading that! Holy Moly! I just can't believe it that poor girl! I get pretty nervous sometime when I read these stories! Geez that was just plain nasty!
