FCCJ SPRING 2010

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I know it is a little early, but anyone plan on applying for FCCJ's spring 2010 program?? If I can get my Nat points up and if I do well in Micro this summer , I will be ready to apply!!!:yeah:Finally!!

I just stopped by the Nursing office - North campus. Not all the letters have gone out yet. Congrats for those that are in and fingers crossed for all others.

good to know!

timbletack.... so i can go and have my blood work done, but I just can not have any vaccines with the exception of the flu and tetorifice until after the 20th correct? This includes the physical and tb test as well?

I talked with two different staff members in the Nursing office, and she just kept saying to wait until after the 20th for both the titers and most of the vaccines, with the exception of the flu and if you've already had the tetorifice within the past 10 years. They didn't specify on the paper, but according to the staff that I talked to, they just said wait until the 20th, which I would recommend just in case. If that is confusing, call or go up to the north campus because I don't want anyone to have problems. :)

Congrats to everyone who has gotten their letters!! I am a 4th term student graduating next month. Your fun is getting ready to begin. Last term FNSA was as the orientation for the newcomers and was selling Uniforms very cheap. In case your running low on funds!! Don't let it overwhelm you as it can be. I have made it and worked a fulltime job and I have a kid through the entire program!!!! Just take it one step at a time. Its gonna be a wild and crazy ride, but well worth it!! Again congrats!

Im guessing that no one else has gotten an email or letter today???

Congrats to everyone who got in!! Get ready for a wild ride! As far as the immunizations you can start those early, b/c titers can take time. If you wait to get them drawn and they come back negative then you have to get the vaccine and then have another titer drawn. You have to do this until you recieve a positive titer. I know for some vaccinations the sereis can take several weeks so start this part early! Your PPD and physical exam cannot be done before the date listed on your packet (I think someone mentioned the 20th). They will make you redo it if you are even a day too soon. For the Hep B I recommend opting out, but still get it done for your own protection. Then at least as far as the school is concerned you don't need to worry about it anymore, but financially you can do it at your own pace. Clinicals start the 8th week of the program. And for the fall, several people declined their seats, so if you're on the edge and get a denial letter there may still be hope!

Nope I didn't recieve anything in th mail today. :(

thanks for the helpful information! I have to admit that I have been extremely overwhelmed today so reading your advice has helped! And just an FYI for everyone, I went to CVS-Minute clinic and got my seasonal flu vaccine and they billed it to my insurance so I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket.

Do anyone know the cutoff as of yet?

Looking back at previous threads it looks like Northside Medical Clinic is the cheapest route for everything... I wonder if they are open on Saturday? Anyways I will be going up there on Monday for titers and drug testing, along with getting my fingerprinting done that day too. I then guess the following Monday I will go back for a physical and ppd test..... Does the Northside Clinic give flu shots? If not when you guys went to CVS did they give you some type of verification that you had taken the flu shot?

Nothing in the mail (or email) for me today...Still hoping my 195.04 will be enough??? Anyone get anything in the mail today???

Yes, CVS gives you a receipt with all the needed info on it for getting the flu shot.

Thank you stephanie! I was so confused about titers, so I'm glad you broke it down like that. The ladies I talked to were so confusing. I am definitely going to get my titers done on Monday.
