Your Starting Salary?

  1. 1 For nursing students like myself, I thought it would be helpful and intersting to see what type of salary is out there for graduating nursing students for different area's. Looking around the site, I see different salary threads, but many replies are from nurses with 10 or more years experience, or the threads are years old and the starting salary is long outdated. I thought it would be more helpful to have a thread with nurses who are fresh out of school and what their starting salary is.

I live in Cleveland area. Have been LPN for 17 years. Have accepted job as RN (I have an ADN) in very nice LTC facility in rehab dept. Starting salary: $27.94 for day shift, $29.98 for evening/night shift. This is also with decent benefit package-8 hour shifts, full time. The company's website lists salariy ranges for RN's, so I am not divulging any info.

I recieved my LPN license in 2009 and started in LTC at $16 p/hr... I later in 2010 took a job in a outpatient clinic at $14.62 p/hr (paid holidays, M-F 8-5).LPN in Montana. I recieved my RN license in August 2011 in Iowa and started with LTC at $21 p/hr on 3rd shift with $1 differential. I now work at a hospital making $20/hr with $2 differential (on 3rd shift). Hope this is helpful.

Wow. It's something to see how far thing s have come. My starting salary as an LPN in 1983 was $6.50/hr! My starting salary as an RN in 1990 was $12.85/hr. And they were both good paying jobs for the times.

23 an hour in New Jersey for a Skilled Nursing Facility/LTC for an RN. I feel like a slave with that wage since there is no differential.

I graduated an LPN program in August 2011 and I work at an Urgent Care in Auburn Washington. My starting pay is $18.25 and I am per diem so I have a 15% pay in lieu of benefits. My final pay is $21.25 per hour plus an additional $2 for weekends.

I am in an RN program now and would love for someone in WA to post what they make as a new RN grad. Thanks!

In my area (DFW) new grad RNs (both BSN and ASN) make between $21.50 and $24.00/hr base in a hospital setting depending on the hospital. My pay is somewhere right smack in the middle-ish of that with stacking shift differentials.
