For nursing students like myself, I thought it would be helpful and intersting to see what type of salary is out there for graduating nursing students for different area's. Looking around the site, I see different salary threads, but many replies are from nurses with 10 or more years experience, or the threads are years old and the starting salary is long outdated. I thought it would be more helpful to have a thread with nurses who are fresh out of school and what their starting salary is.
List whether you are an LPN or an RN

I recieved my LPN license in 2009 and started in LTC at $16 p/hr... I later in 2010 took a job in a outpatient clinic at $14.62 p/hr (paid holidays, M-F 8-5).LPN in Montana. I recieved my RN license in August 2011 in Iowa and started with LTC at $21 p/hr on 3rd shift with $1 differential. I now work at a hospital making $20/hr with $2 differential (on 3rd shift). Hope this is helpful.

Wow. It's something to see how far thing s have come. My starting salary as an LPN in 1983 was $6.50/hr! My starting salary as an RN in 1990 was $12.85/hr. And they were both good paying jobs for the times.

23 an hour in New Jersey for a Skilled Nursing Facility/LTC for an RN. I feel like a slave with that wage since there is no differential.

I just started my first RN job and am making $23.30 for dayshift on a med surg floor of a large hospital. After my 3 month orientation (assuming I survive) I will be bumped to $24.00.

I graduated an LPN program in August 2011 and I work at an Urgent Care in Auburn Washington. My starting pay is $18.25 and I am per diem so I have a 15% pay in lieu of benefits. My final pay is $21.25 per hour plus an additional $2 for weekends.
I am in an RN program now and would love for someone in WA to post what they make as a new RN grad. Thanks!
