  1. Wholeheartedly agree. Became an LPN @age 39. At age 56, became an RN and was hired and am currently working @Cleveland Clinic Foundation. You can accomplish whatever you commit to.
  2. Above post-I'm referring to Paramount Studios.
  3. I'd work there for free! What a gig.
  4. I was at the stadium @0830am on 3-28-12 (1st day) & left after 6pm. Many people walked in vs. preregistering and this delayed the interview wait times - along with a glitch in the messaging process. During this time, plenty of food and beverages were available. After an interview, there was plenty of seating available and other candidates were very friendly and supportive. The CCF staff were excited and upbeat despite the delays and being on their feet most of the day. Exiting the elevator to the the last phase which consisted of the physical exam, I was congratulated by CCF & Browns stadium employees for securing a position. As a relatively new grad, I am very pleased to say I went home with a job & will begin orientation on 4-16-12. Well done, CCF!
  5. I know this an older post, starting my first nursing job in a CDU in 2 weeks. Am very grateful for the opportunity & landing a hospital position. Will be working 7pm-7am shift. Wish I could say not I'm a bit nervous about the challenges and being able to "cut it". Thanks for your post.
  6. Also forget to mention, I have been licensed LPN 17 yrs.
  7. Thank you! Just today, a nursing friend showed me the full page ad that was published in Plain Dealer. It provided website & phone number to register, even offering to validate parking. I am starting a "new" RN job this week on subacute unit of fairly nice LTC facility. Still paper charting except for medications, tons of paperwork (admissions, etc.) & 12-15 residents on 2nd shift. Staffing suffers due to cutback in reimbusements to SNF's which I don't think have hit the hospital as hard. Will make it a point to go to CCF Jobfair. I guarantee many many people will be there.
  8. Thanks for sharing. In case I can't locate on their web/career site, can you provide details (date, time). Have applied & got a basic phone interview from HR (as new graduate RN status) last week. Good luck.
  9. I feel your pain! I worked for Kaiser Ohio for the last fifteen years as an LPN, obtained RN licensure Sept 2011. I was also not given any opportunity for even an interview as I was considered a New Grad & experience is necessary. I had great performance reviews & lots of encouragement to get my RN license. Also, nursing is a second career (I am in my fifties) & I am now looking for job in a very saturated market. Hang in there & if you have to leave KP, just keep your contacts & get rehired after you get your "experience" . Good luck.
  10. I live in Cleveland area. Have been LPN for 17 years. Have accepted job as RN (I have an ADN) in very nice LTC facility in rehab dept. Starting salary: $27.94 for day shift, $29.98 for evening/night shift. This is also with decent benefit package-8 hour shifts, full time. The company's website lists salariy ranges for RN's, so I am not divulging any info.
  11. Took NCLEX @8am on Monday 8-29-11, test shut off @75 questions. Walked out of testing center absolutely convinced I did not pass. Was extremely discouraged and down in the dumps. At about 2 pm, I got the "good pop up". Also rechecked it about a million times to make sure it didn't change. The Ohio Board of Nursing had my license number/active status posted as of 8-30-11. Believe in the good pop up!
  12. My 75th question was prioritization-did not have any math problems-had about 12 SATA's-one where you had to place tasks to do proper order on some procedure. A few questions were soooo basic and obvious, that it left me doubting. I guess I'd always heard that questions will get progressively harder if you are doing well. Will wait for official results, not putting away the books yet!
  13. Took NCLEX @8am this morning-test stopped @75 questions--as I was taking test, some of the questions became too easy & I was expecting the worst. Walked out of there like someone had kicked me in stomach. Now 5 hrs later, the Pearson Vue "trick" gave me the good pop up! (still feel like someone kicked me in stomach!!) As for my "profile" page status, it read "your exam results are not available @this time". Is this too good to be true? I am not a betting woman, but would have bet I flunked BIG TIME. I am sooo hoping this pop up stuff is accurate.
  14. Just took NCLEX this am (8 am appt) & probably slept about 4 hours last night. Very discouraged as test cut off @75 questions and since the questions were getting easier, I felt discouraged early on. Don't even feel it's necessary to look for "popup" from Pearson. Work full time, first time to take this exam, older than most taking exam. Studied with copy of Hurst CD (lent to me), Kaplan newest strategy book & RN prep course book, took practice tests available free on line from Kaplan along with tests from used book store bought Mosby,Lippencott RN prep books & reviewed content. Have invested so much money into school, books, etc. Just curious about tutor services & cost. I will pick myself back up & retest as soon as I can, but what a devastating feeling to walk out feeling as if you "know nothing". Great website, appreciate opportunity to just vent!
  15. Do not sign on with TCN. Excelsior will work with you closely along with this website (students/distance learning) to get your degree. Nursing books can be bought used thru Amazon.com ,Ebay & discount bookstores. I am speaking from experience, as I signed on with Chancellor's (competitor of TCN). Was successful in achieving my RN degree, but am still paying off loan of $99.00 monthly, which in my opinion was not anywhere worth product/services provided. Do not make the mistake that I did. Steer clear of "publishing companies." Good luck.
