My male friend age 27 and brother in law age 24 both had tension pneumos and ended up with chest tubes. They were told tall skinny males are at risk

Security guard at hospital bitten by angry patient. Doc decided to perform a PPD. (Not sure if pt history had anything to do with it - but security doesn't have annual PPDs).

Security guard's PPD positive.

Security guard sent for Chest Xray.

Boom - stage IV lung CA. Not a smoker, no symptoms, middle aged healthy male.

Tension pneumos are skinny white man syndrome. My friend had one at 19. 6'8" and skinny as can be.

The pneumo I was referring to wasn't a skinny white man, nor a man ;)

It was a shock

Anecdote from when I was a floor nurse... had a rapid response code on a patient and by the time EKG got there, she was already to the ICU. They ended up performing the EKG on her roommate (oops!). But here's the kicker - found new ST elevation.

Little old lady coming via EMS with low back pain- no other complaints. EMS put her on the monitor in the rig per their protocol- she was in SVT. Weirdest SVT presentation I've ever seen.

Two different people I know were in the ED after car accidents and found out they were six months pregnant. Both babies turned out fine and both moms had no injuries from the accidents.
