U.S.A. California

Published

This is for those of us that will be applying to LA county college of nursing and allied health's fall 2014 semester. I will be submitting my application for the basic RN program tomorrow... Yayyy!!! I am beyond excited, I can't believe this time has finally come!

I totally get where you're coming from! I finally heard back from Chico State today and was placed on the alternate list.

I really hope you get accepted to your school of choice! :) Where did you apply to?

P.S: Excited, clear your inbox again. You must be quiet popular around here. lol

my inbox is clear :)

I applied to LACC, PCC and County. At this point I'll be happy to get in anywhere. I just want to start this fall :arghh:

that is exacy the way i feel right now. I applied for COC and County. County has always been my first choice. Since i was accepted to COC, i was like "County who?" Lol. Once you have an acceptance and all of the requirements, you jump on them right away. Its weird how your perception changes when you are accepted somewhere else. I thought County was the only place i wanted to go. Once i got the acceptance letter from COC, i cried and i am excited for sure!!! Keep positive!

LOL OMG I WISH I HAD YOUR PATIENCE! I guess I can't be patient when I don't know where I might be living in a matter of months... :(

Best of luck to you though!

Yeah, I've been taking many GE classes as I want to do the collaborative BSN program with Cal State. So, I want that out of my way before I start the nursing program. And I am impatient now because I am expecting some news from PCC and LACC any day now, it's their scheduled time for sending notifications. SmyleeRN still has a few weeks before expecting anything from County :); I am sure some impatience will kick in once the notification period comes :nailbiting:. Fingers crossed for all of us.

Yes, You are probably right. Right now I still have a ways to go, so I'm just chilling...lol. Plus, I like having income right now. Once I get my acceptance letter, I will be giving up a lot of money when I go to nursing school, so right I'm just enjoying my income while I can :)

Yes, having income right now is really, REALLY good! LOL. We can all kiss that goodbye while in the program, or be fortunate enough to be able to have schedules that will still allow us to work some!

I'm hoping to at least work part time to earn some income. I can't remember, will you be working at all while you are in school?

I want to be working at LEAST part time. If i cant pull it off, i have no problem looking for other means. We wont know our schedules until June. We will receive emails next month telling us what sections to sign up for and what days/where our clinical sites are. We dont get to pick our theory class schedules since they run concurrently with clinical. No switching because they would have to then switch everyone around. Sounds strict, but with the competitive nature of the programs these days, im sure an alternate would gladly fill the persons spot that has an issue with their schedule. I for one have worked too hard (as you all have) to be giving up a seat in the program because of work. I will figure it out one way or another. I feel so grateful to have been accepted! I will work wherever i need to in order to pay the bills. I will flip burgers, or work at starbucks and gladly give up my cushy mon-fri 8-5 job for this opportunity!! :)

Just a heads up.. County really likes when you have some sort of volunteer work, especially the CCE. I was told that this gives you a really good boost on your application. So for those who aren't admitted this year and really want to attend county, I highly suggest doing some sort of volunteer work. Hope this helps! :) I am a county student.. so let me know if there's any questions. I'll be glad to help.
