Hi Everyone!

I see that there is no thread for the cohort for Spring 2015 for the ABSN Program yet! So this is my official attempt at making a thread for it! Please use this thread as a place for comments, questions and admission decision updates! I actually have been offered conditional acceptance already and would love to meet future classmates! Thanks guys!

I'm also applying to CSU northridge  I'm finishing my BA in psych at northridge right now and will be graduating in December. About how long does it take for CSUSM to send out an evaluation after they receive our transcripts? I sent mine last week and they have received them because my application status online says completed.

Goodluck to all of us! 

I called them after 3 weeks since they received my transcripts cause I've been waiting eagerly for any type of response and they said the evaluations usually come between 4-6 weeks.

Hey everyone!

Just got my letter of acceptance today. Super excited to start in January. Just to update anyone who is curious, I got my evaluation exactly a month after they received my transcripts on September 29, and 3 days later (today), I got my acceptance letter emailed to me.

Can't wait to meet you all.

Hi everyone!

I just submitted my intent to CSUSM ABSN program! I'm so excited! I was just wondering if anyone has received any information on what's next? Hoping to meet all of you soon!! :)

You will be notified by the SON about your background check. None of us have gotten any more info than that. We have a Facebook group for those who have already been accepted. Look for Dyana Penner on Facebook and I will get you in. Congratulations, it is a wonderful feeling to be accepted to the program.

Did anyone get accepted to the Spring 2015 while having a class "in-progess" right now in the Fall?

Does anyone know if they are STILL accepting students for Spring 2015?

I got my evaluation done today. But I still have O-chem and Mirco

"in-progress" right now at Cabrillo College. They said in the email that they cannot calculate points until all classes are complete. But can I still be admitted?

Thanks everyone!

Sunbun123,

I went through this with the advisor at an information session last Spring. I was going to take o-chem this Fall. I was told that if I didn't take it over the Summer, as I did, I wouldn't be considered for the Spring cohort. Without the whole nursing core complete they won't look at your whole application. From what I understand, most schools won't. Many, if not most, applicants for nursing programs end up with a year between finishing course work and actually starting nursing programs. Sorry it isn't what you wanted to hear. It is frustrating and time consuming. If you are finishing your pre-nursing core in December, you would be a candidate for the Summer cohort. Good luck!

Hey sunbun123,

I wanted to get in for Spring 2015 also!!! I filled out my application but didn't know we didn't have to attach our TEAS test scores. I did poorly (75%) on my last attempt on the TEAS so I didn't submit the application just yet. I am scheduled to re-take the TEAS test this Saturday in order to get a better score. I called them a couple weeks ago and they told me that the Spring 2015 cohort has been FILLED and now all applications that come in will be considered for Summer 2015. I was so mad! I didn't know that we could've just sent our application without our TEAS test score and submit it later! I really wanted to be in the San Marcos cohort since I live all the way by Downtown San Diego.

But! I applied for Summer 2015, retaking my TEAS this Saturday, and we'll go from there =).

Anyone else in my position?

Hi alont001! I hope you did better on your TEAS last weekend! I am in a similar situation. I waited to turn in my Spring 2015 application only once I took my 1st TEAS test. When I finally received my TEAS score, I immediately submitted my application, transcripts, and scores. That was near the end of September. I still haven't received my evaluation. And now that I know the Spring 2015 cohort has been filled, then I guess my application will roll over to Summer 2015. Sigh... The Temecula campus will be wayyy less convenient for me too because I live near La Jolla.

When did you find out the Spring cohort was filled?

Hi Aline22,

I found out that the Spring 2015 cohort got filled about 3 weeks ago!! So back in October....I was so sad since that was the only San Marcos cohort and I live far too! In Ocean Beach/Point Loma area so south of you!

I did really well on my TEAS...well for me! haha I got an 81.3%....but I also found out that I got accepted into Marian University's ABSN program in Nashville, TN.

My friends go there, and they are from San Diego also and they love it...it's a 16 month program and i would start in January. They have a 97% NCLEX passing rates and 85/88 of their graduating students landed jobs straight out of school.

I fear that if I don't take this opportunity, I could risk not getting accepted into CSUSM's ABSN program then I would have wasted time and money since I already paid to do all my background checks, drug testings, etc.

Hello everyone!! I was elated to get my conditional acceptance email this past Monday for spring 2014! I'm from the ventura area so I'm relocating. I'm interested in a roommate situation.

Hi agonzalez4321! You got your acceptance for Spring 2015 on Monday? Wow! I thought the Spring 2015 cohort had been filled or at least that's what the front office has been telling me. Why'd you get your acceptance so late? Does this mean that there is still some spots left in the cohort?

Yes, I received the email this past Monday at 4am for spring 2015. I also was surprised that the notification was so soon to class start date! My financial aid package isn't available yet so I'm praying that that situation gets finalized soon so I can prepare for the move! I'm so excited! I'm also waiting on further notifications from csusm on the next steps like orientation and background checks! Congrats to everyone who got accepted! For those applying, continue pursuing that goal. You'll get there.
