Hello!! I just got accepted and will begin training shortly. I can answer any and all q's you have about the interview process and am more than willing to provide info about the program as I begin. :)

group interview - 8 people. 4 interviewers rotating questions.

1. scenario questions about patients and what would you do. diabetic patient asking for non-diet soda. patient asking to smoke, etc.

2. if you had a billion dollars, what would you do with it

3. if you had a super power, what would it be.

iirc, other very general interview questions

training is similar to that of a cna's (bathing, transport, ADLs)

GL!

Hi, I am going to the interview at Hoag next week, and have a question about the application. Did you guys type or hand wrote the application?

Also did the interviewers seem nice and was the atmosphere of the interview tense?

This is my first time going to an interview, I am really nervous!

@wannabeNR - how was your interview? :) I heard there is an essay question - do you remember what did yours ask? I get nervous when it comes to writing and would like to prepare early... I know the question might not be the same, but want to take my chance to prepare - hope to hear back from you soon! Thank you!

I can only answer this based off of my experience at HOAG in newport beach

Yes there is an essay question, it was the first thing we did right off the bat when the interview started. You sit in a classroom and everyone is given a paper. It is hand written. The question that our group received is "Are you in support of socialized health care? why or why not?". It is timed, I do not remember how long, but it wasn't long. You need to do good on this part. 90% of the people trying to get into this thing need the experience to apply for medical school, they are extremely sharp pre-med students. Pick a side to write on that you can write a lot about. and have good reasons for choosing the side that you do.

The next portion was group interviews. We were broken up into groups of 4 with one interviewer per group. In my group there was me(an RN student), another RN student, and 2 pre-med students from UCI. We were asked various questions, as a group, and were told to respond whenever we wanted. Heres the trick: BE THE FIRST PERSON TO ANSWER EVERY SINGLE QUESTION!!! and make sure they are good answers. I am extremely quick. I can come up with sharp, smart answers at the drop of a hat. This is what they want to see, this is what they are looking for. They want people who can respond quickly to any such given situation and know what they are doing.

The cohort I tried out for had 600 applicants for 100 spots. I received an e-mail within a few weeks that informed me of my acceptance and detailed the further needed instructions. I had to reject the offer due to financial issues (there are a few fees involved, a $60ish registration fee, had to buy specific uniform, tb test, etcetera, totaling less than $150 altogether) I just couldnt afford it at the time. I was pretty bummed, but another door opened for me a few months down the road at another hospital that will help me more specifically in my nursing path and also gets me some good money while in nursing school. Things always happen for a reason.

Good luck, if you have any other questions i'd be happy to offer any info that I know!

@jmira - thank you SO MUCH for the prompt and detailed reply! This is really helpful!! ahh -- I'm getting nervous about the essay!! (slow writer > thank you!! and Congratulation on getting the job at the other hospital!!!! :)

hello, everyone I just got an email inviting me to attend the orientation and interview from Long Beach Medical Center for CCE program. I've never had an interview before. Would somebody please tell me that I should prepare for this. (such as: what will they usually ask, what topic that I should prepare for the essay) Thank you in advance for your inputs. :)

Hello,

I am about to submit an application for COPE's CCE program at Riverside Community Hospital. Has anyone else been accepted or interviewed at this particular branch? I would like to be as prepared as possible; from previous posts of different branches, it seems like we must have a decent knowledge of some basic health-related practices. I am still completing pre-reqs and have never before volunteered at any kind of health facility. Is there anything I should be aware of and possibly research if accepted to the interview?

Thank you in advance!

Hi

I just applied for a CCE position and my interview was Monday. They said to wait till Friday at 11:59 pm for an acceptance email. I did not get an email, so does that mean I got denied? I'm going to email them in the morning.

I'm about to start my program, I just need to have my documents cleared. I have a friend who got the interview for CVHP but didn't get in. She tried again and got in. If you don't get in, I suggest you try again. They've been lenient so far with my situation because I couldn't attend the cohort I signed up for so they moved me to the next rotation.

Hi everyone .. i have my interview tomorrow and I'm extremely nervous .. those who already been to the interview process how did you dress? I'm confused on what to wear ..never had a interview in my life so I'm freaking out .. also this may be a silly questions but I have a lip piercing will it look bad if I kept it? It's a very small stud ..
